Jersey / East Cost Bronco

For everyone to get ideas and talk about new things they find out about the Bronco and maybe get together and have some fun

So been posting to this forum for all of 9 days (been just reading bronco6g for much longer)... And it is pretty uncharacteristically quiet here in jersey... I know many are still waiting on delivery, and I felt your pain and I wish I had some magic power to fix that.. Some of us do have them already and probably want something else from this group.. So I guess I want to pose the question, what do we want to get out of this club page?

We can talk about what mods we are, or at least are dreaming of getting.

Or we can talk about where we want to let them run.

How about what to do with that front plate bracket your dealer installed before you can stop them from drilling holes in your paint job (been thinking of getting the bracket to relocate to the bumper - I caution make sure you are ok with the OEM plate placement or contact your dealer to not install when they receive delivery - I think front plates qualifies as a jersey issue).

We can talk about setting up meetups in your relative part of the state?

And I guess if anyone is a poet, I guess you can share that too, but in moderation and as long as its about your bronco.

Any other ideas to get some discussion happening over here?

@bbrngr I got mine too, on 11/9, Blend date of 11/16! Now I just have the continued stress of potential delivery damage, surprise ADMs, warranty issues, etc . . .

@GToddC5 I lost your comment but I’m dealing with the same stress lol I’m borderline losing sleep over worrying about delivery damage and going to pick it up and being hit with a surprise ADM even after I already signed papers. :’) Thank you Ford

My problem is that my delivery is with a dealership in Ohio and they know that I moved away. I will work out the financials before I leave to go pick it up, but I am still worried (especially because my dealshership does not communicate at all). The one good thing is that the reviews on the dealership are very good and they have repeatedly given me the verbal that they will not charge any markups over MSRP. My blend date is 11/17.

As for this group, I would love to arrange meetups and group outings. I can go with my Jeep friends but it would be great to be in a Bronco caravan out to PA, the TNJT, etc.

Ok, just got back from Rausch Creek and got a lot to say, so bear with me and I hope it doesn't get too long. For starters, today was amazing. I've never gone real off-roading and I have to say its likely to stay up there in my life's memories. I'll try to do this in a way which gives people an idea of what to expect and what my Bronco was capable of. I'm so proud of her that maybe its time she earned a name - will have to think on that..

Anyways, the day started off rainy.. hit a heavy patch about 20min before I got to the Del. Water gap, and slogged on through another bit as I went to pick up my copilot whos in the poconos.. From there we drove another 1:30 to get to Rausch Creek.. Well we gassed up first and I fed her a heaping bowl of 93. We then hit the office, signing our docs and paid our membership and admission.. After that I contacted John who I had pre-arraigned to ride with and show me the trails. John and his father (also John) were already on the trails with others in their Rubicon and were on their way back to meet with us. We took this time to air down - we went down to around 20, but it probably could have gone down further to 15.

I borrowed a radio from John and we were on our way, agreeing to stick to mostly green trails. It was a group of 4 with two unlimiteds a gladiator and me. BTW I have the Grabber A/T 32" black diamond wheels, while the others were on 35s or larger. I switched over to mud and ruts mode and we were on our way. The trail started off flat, but fairly quickly we found where all that rain went as we slogged through some fairly deep puddles. We worked our way up along the power lines and did a loop through some fairly rocky terrain.. As this all was new to me, I stayed relatively close to the Rubicon and mostly followed his lines. It was fairly soon that I realized what all the armor on the underside of my black diamond was for as I took some early hits to the skid plates.

(A word of caution... If you go here, you need the rails, skids and bash plate, I feel I used all three today. The greens still have rocks, these are not groomed forest paths with sweet little bunnies to cuddle. You will be crawling along constantly picking a line going from one rock to another, riding sideways with one wheel in a gully, or otherwise using the wider stance of the bronco to just bridge the gap in the center of the trail. And we stayed on mostly the greens with a little smattering of blues.)

Also early on I remembered I had the whole one pedal drive so I pressed the buttons and finally figured out how it worked. Let me say that made things alot easier, not having to break so often, especially on a decline, it was fairly amazing.

So we finished the first loop and I did it all in the mud and ruts, there were some technical bits where I probably should have moved to Rock Crawl (4L) but wasn't really thinking about it so I did it all in 4H. After a quick sandwich I picked up near home and then proceeded to a loop on the other side of the park. The gladiator had to leave us but we added in an additional purpose built unlimited with 37" wheels that had just unloaded from its trailer for a weekend of fun. On the second side I finally remembered that maybe I should give Rock Crawl 4L a try, and I have to say it made things even easier as before the higher gearing of 4H and my inexperience driving in this fashion led to moment of applying too much throttle, leading eventually to another sound of rocks hitting the steel underbelly. In 4L control just got that much more simpler. Most times throughout I ran with the rear locked, but occasionally I did swap into trail turn assist to turn tighter on some tricky terrain. It seemed to work fairly well in some tighter spots, although at times the ABS breaks sound like a dying whale.

Did I have moments with one wheel in the air, (no sway bar disconnect fo me), oh yes. Were there moments of me doubting my life choices as I feel the rear wheels skidding sideways as i'm nosing down a steep trail, of course. Did I ever loose tracking on the greens, nope. At the end of the day, did I get mud on the sides, oh hells yeah.

All told John and his father, and everyone else who came along with me on this ride were awesome. I thank them very much for their patience and comradery. For everyone with a shiny new Bronco on this forum who are looking to do this, I say if you got all the plates underneath and ATs your capable for Rausch Creeks greens, mine was. I was quite shocked as I just didn't know what to expect. Just be aware of what you are in for.. You can break your toy here, and in the end you need to be able to drive it home.

Since the ride I’ve been rubbing my two remaining brain cells together to come up with the name for my baby now that she has proved herself worthy of one. Last night I think I came up with what I am going with but wanted to workshop it a bit. The name I may give her is “Daisy”. I think it ties to her color and is bright and simple and suits her.

Nice to see this type of engagement. I'm still waiting on mine which has a production date for Dec 6th.

I hope to join the adventures once I get it.

Regarding the mods, I'm currently looking for simple things like a 2021 Ford Bronco 12" Sync 4 Screen Protector Kit, and a paint protection film for the front. Any ideas on the paint protection film (where to get it done)?

Thanks!

@juanfer my dealer offered an exterior ceramic coating which comes with a great warranty for everything from sap to scratches and interior tears of the upholstery inside.
