What is an easy 2-3 day camping trail in the socal area? I’m not new to camping, but new to trail camping and have only done a few light off road trails.

There are a LOT of options. Do you prefer the mountain or the desert? This time of year, however, can get tricky. You're probably better off in the desert right now. Just watch for flash floods. If you want to go to the desert, there are a lot of places to camp in Anza Borrego, for example. I second what Joerg said. There are so many options the possibilities are almost endless. If planning out a route seems to daunting you could do something as simple a camping in Hungry Valley for a few days and hitting trails there, they have the full spectrum of the difficulty range there.

There are so many that one can spend weeks trying to find one ideal… is there a group trek that this group does…. I have done a lot of mono treks but no group ones yet.
