Being an Alaskan I've never heard of such a thing. We typically just say "good luck" if it's real nasty.

We were getting 2-3" per hour with zero visibility and it is heavy water laden snow that anything but a highly capable vehicle gets stuck in, so in an attempt to keep the roads free of stuck cars they put the ban in place... that allows them to run the plows and try to keep lanes open for fire / police / EMS. Under "normal" winter conditions here, you wouldn't see driving bans.

Oh I hear ya, still we wouldn't dream of telling people they can't drive (the thought is literally unimaginable to me), weather be damned. We get pretty nasty weather in this state, not much stops us. May slow you down a bit though

I am kind of old school, give me 4H and 4L options and I'm happy (my last 2 vehicles were an F-150 FX4 and a Nissan Xtrerra)... the other day when we had that slushy snow before this lake effect storm I tried the slippery mode and it worked well. As far as this storm goes, 4L got me out of the driveway once I knocked down the drift at tne end. For a moment I thought to myself that hell, just put it in 4L and go OVER the snowbank, but at that point the bank was over 4ft high and I didn't want to get stuck... these are amazing vehicles, but not much is built to handle 7' in 24 hours!

I see you are in Hamburg as well, what part? I am over in the "new" part of the village off Camp... they have done a good job cleaning us out, but holy cow, flashbacks to the 2014 storm!

What drive modes have you used in this mess, and your thoughts?

Good morning, sold my house on Lakeview Road, living in THE OAKS on South Park right now. The snow is unbelievable and they haven’t done much about clearing it. Worried about the bills game because my TV is not picking anything up right now. DIRECTV. I prefer for 4H. Was driving in 4L yesterday and it felt very comfortable.

These are actually the A/Ts. Very aggressive A/Ts I’d say. Any tire this size I don’t think really handle icy well, but snow it does great.
