Every search I do for Bronco replacement antennas recommends short / aesthetic driven models that decrease reception. I am more interested in keeping a whip / tall antenna, and am looking for something that provides increased reception from the OEM / stock, but also is easily swappable from the original (no special installation.)

Any recommendations? I am very much focused on function over form.

I haven't tried swapping my Kenwood race radio antenna with the stock radio one but they look standardized.

Thanks! Looks like this is for CB radios - I am looking for AM/FM. Do you know if CB would work?
I used it for my tundra's radio 🤷‍♂️ for this you would need a female to female spring and possibly a thread adapter.

There used to be “antenna boosters” that went in the antenna cable and to power…don’t know if there is such a thing anymore…I have never used the ”radio“ on the bronco…

I've put a 16" on my 24 wildtraks. No issues. Good reception and its good looking considering what was on there from the factory

The factory antenna is a 1/4 wave at about 100 MHz. That's about as efficient as you can get without some sort of active amplification. Anything shorter is not resonant, even though it will work.

We lost radio about 10 miles from town yesterday and I mentioned to my wife , "they don't even try to make radios any good anymore because nobody but us listens to radio" I just plug in my mp3 and let it DJ on random. Nothing like my '77 F150 listening to KOMA all night.

does reception improve? this is basically the opposite of what I am looking for, but it keeps showing up in searches.

this is excellent info - so from the sounds of it, it'd be pointless to go taller unless I was willing to do more mods.

This is the educated answer. No shorter antennas or boosters will work better than this (with the vehicle metal as a ground plane), for FM. If you are actually listening to AM, all practical antennas are "short". Thats why back in the day, cars had telescoping antennas that would extend several feet.
