That's a bummer. Well I am only staying in University District for a month. Not sure where I'm working yet but guess I'll consult crime maps before picking a new spot. I was looking at one yesterday and it showed a lot of other areas in the city as being safer in terms of theft.

Yeah - the "instigators/professionals" in Seattle (as well as most other large cities) Like to start at the University campuses because they having "willing" participants (the students)

That being said - you'll probably be OK for your short time frame. Unless there is some current event issue that pops up and they want to get coverage of the "cause".

I doubt anyone is going to vandalize your vehicle to make a political statement, but they may break in to see if you have cool stuff to steal.

My neighbor parks his Bronco Raptor outside. No trouble that I've seen in the year plus he's had it. Another neighbor has a 2-door Black Diamond, has been street parking for a couple years, no troubles that I've seen. I've got an Outer Banks Sasquatch, parking on street or in my garage about 50/50 and no troubles in the 2 yrs I've had it. I'm in Fremont, a little west of U District.

There are a decent amount of car prowls in some areas of the city, though. Even around me, I see freshly broken window glass within a couple blocks of home about once a month. The U District has a fair amount of property crime. If you're willing to hop a bus for a short ride to parking, several other neighborhoods have more space and less crime.

Do you have to live in the U District? It has its upsides, sure, especially if you're a student, but there are upsides to other areas.

Good point and I actually ended up passing on the U District place. Based partially on feedback here.

I'm definitely not a student. I'm old enough to have a student as a kid lol

I'm staying by the stadium now, just got in last Friday.. easy access to the highway and ferries (I think).

Parking is simpler since they have some on site.
