I recently picked up a set of the new Wolfbox NomadRover 5” and 3” light pods, and they ended up being much brighter than I expected.
Installation was straightforward. Everything needed for the install was included in the box, even zip ties. The process was simple: connect the power and ground to the battery, secure the relays, route the switches into the cabin, and you’re good to go. I originally planned to wire them into my Bronco’s auxiliary switches, but I only had one switch available since the others are already being used by various lights and accessories.
Before these, I was running Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport Series pods with the combo lens. They worked, but they weren’t very noticeable and didn’t put out enough light for me to use them often. The NomadRover pods are a huge upgrade. They’re larger, look better, feature amber DRLs, and produce significantly more usable light. I find myself using them much more frequently simply because they’re so effective. The 5” pods in particular look fantastic mounted on the hood and have a much more aggressive appearance than smaller pod lights.
I mounted everything using DV8 dual light brackets. Running dual lights isn’t necessary, but the setup looks incredible and gives you a very practical lighting combination. The 3” pods fit perfectly in the ditch light location and include three interchangeable snap-on lenses: amber spot, amber flood, and white flood. My favorite is the white flood lens because it spreads light exactly where you need it and provides excellent peripheral visibility.
Overall, I’m extremely impressed with the NomadRover lights. They’re well built, produce a ton of light, offer useful features, and come in at a very reasonable price. If you’re looking for a powerful and affordable lighting upgrade, they’re definitely worth considering.
