Anyone one have input on which rear speaker pod you like better? The IAG and Mabbet look to large. SSV and the Metra seem a little smaller which would be nice. How is the quality of the pod and anything else you like/dont like about them?

I've got the SSV pods with the SSV speakers (not Kicker). Quality is good. No complaints. Install was easy (I have a soft top). Sound great after forscan mods. I'm very happy with them.

Hi A, just to throw this in there. Our pods and speakers come with a lifetime warranty, which most brands will not offer. If you dont want the SSV speakers you can add in the Kicker speakers that come with a 1 year warranty or add in your speaker of choice. You can DM me for a discount code on our site too. Thanks!

Have the Metras.

Full transparency: I've loaded them with speakers (Kickers 6.5" KS series), but haven't actually installed them yet. With the tools I have, I'll need to loosen the hard top bolts a bit to install the pods, which unfortunately I realized after I reinstalled my TrailRax roof rack for the ski season. So the pods are now a spring project.

But in terms of quality, they seem very similar to the OEM pods. Typical plastic housing, looks/feels very similar to OEM pods, no immediate concerns.

Dang! Wish I had know about that discount before I ordered mine. 🙂

It's been awhile since you made this post. Did you happen to do a follow up on the install?

Coming late to this thread but

Mabett pods have an external cover - that isn’t a susprise, it’s been noted that it does limit speaker height

What I didn’t also realize when I got them, is that cover has some foam on it to prevent rattling. The foam is positioned such that it can interfere with the suspension of some speakers. Over time it actually damaged the suspension on a set of Morels I had installed. Didn’t realize it was happening until after I started investigating why the speaker was sounding off.

Threw them away and went with a set of SSVs

I installed them last spring but removed them two weekends later to play around with some cargo area accessories a company had sent me to beta test. (Their product conflicted with the speakers.) Then the roof rack went back on for ski season, and I have yet to remove it again this summer.

Speakers installed easily and there was a noticeable sound improvement, especially for the back-seat passengers. For the driver... nothing massively game-changing in my opinion. Noticeable for sure, but overall the dash/kick panels have such an outsized impact on the audio you hear from the driver's seat that anything happening behind you is kinda just playing a supporting role.

Actually completely forgot about them until this post. Was going to leave the roof rack on this summer (laziness, I'll admit), but now I got a reason to remove it again.

Thank you for letting me know. I prefer all around sound, so increasing the output from the back is key. Not too fond of the oversized aftermarket pods though, and am going to try to stuff some 5.25's in the factory pods.
