I'm eyeballs deep in trailer wiring threads lol. Searched but haven't seen anything regarding this package yet... seems to have everything needed except for the brake controller. Let me know if I'm mistaken! It appears to have everything in one kit that everyone has been patching together, so nothing really different, except I haven't seen an under dash trailer brake wiring harness until this.

I completed the installation of the Tekonsha wiring harness this weekend. Very straightforward install. Everything was included with the kit with the exception of the brake controller. The only somewhat difficult part of the install was routing the harness from the rear of the Bronco to the front and into the engine bay. All the connections at the rear are plug and play. It works perfectly.

I haven't purchased a controller yet. I need the 7 pin for the backup lights for the surge brakes on my boat trailer. It takes a 5 pin hookup. I have a 7 pin to 5 pin adapter made by Curt.

I almost went this route but nobody had this in stock. This provides all of the functionality but does not integrate with the Bronco's body control module which coordinates and integrates things like sway control, vehicle stability and ABS. Those functions, however, also require someone with access to vehicle programming software to enable the integration, usually a dealership mechanic. I did purchase the Ford/Lumen factory OEM kit. It comes with an electronic module that plugs in over the driver side rear wheel hump, and a wiring harness that connects to connectors in the left driver side wheel well behind the wheel liner, which have the turn/brake and reverse signals and 12V instead of the CURT and Tekonsha harnesses that use a T to tap in behind the tail lights. Without any programming, the harness does operate all the trailer lights and reverse signals. I'll have them enable the tow function in the BCM when I have to take it in for a recall or other service. If you ever plan on towing a trailer with electric brakes, this factory harness from Ford/Lumen makes it a cinch to add the Redarc electric brake controller, also available from Ford Accessories ($330), with a single connector on the drive tunnel near the gas pedal and a hole to drill in the center floor console opposite the window switches for the gain knob control. You can also get cables to connect Prodigy electric brake controllers to the Ford OEM brake controller connector online, so you don't have to use the Ford/Redarc factory OEM option. I'll be posting a YouTube video in the near future of the Ford/Lumen tow kit install and will attach the instructions so you can see exactly what's in this kit. The Ford Accessory web site did offer installation for $120 which would include the programming of the BCM, which I would consider well worth the price now that I have done the install myself without the programming.

That Tekonsha package is complete but wasn't in stock when I was doing my upfitting. The Ford Accessory VP2DZ-15A416-A ($279 MSRP https://accessories.ford.com/bronco...pin-trailer-hitch-wiring-harness-vp2dz15a416a) is the factory installed tow package wiring minus the actual hitch receiver, which is the CURT 13493 receiver (https://amzn.to/49gMorb). The TK44VR includes a pigtail for Prodigy brake controllers, which run $15 on Amazon (https://amzn.to/42lcU0e). But the Ford part includes a very nice 4/7pin plug and mounting bracket that bolts easily to the frame with the same bolts that the CURT receiver bolt with, and the wiring harness is prefitted with anchoring tabs that fit holes already in the Bronco frame and heat shielding where it is needed. Without programming, which requires access to the FDRS software, both have the same function (full trailer lighting/brake and reverse signals, 12V charge) but with programming, the Ford accessory interfaces with vehicle stability (anti-sway, ABS) and other sensors (rear parking, BLIS) because there is an electronic tow controller module in the Ford kit that the Tekonsha doesn't. On the Ford Accessory web site, installation was only $120, which includes programming. Now that I have done the install, if I could get a dealership to do all that for $120, that would be a bargain.

I'll also attach the installation instructions from Ford/Lumen. The drawings for the routing of the harness around the frame are hard to make out, but you can easily feel the holes where the harness anchors need to go as it works its way around the back of the frame, and you don't need to jack up the vehicle or put it on a lift if you don't mind working on your back or crouching.

Ben, just wanted to thanks for your video showing the lumen/ford factory towing installation. After completing updating my 2023 OB I have to tell you that the video work was amazing considering how tedious some of the steps were. I had previously installed a 4 pin add on kit but just really wanted to have the factory look. My towing package was apparently deleted during the build process and I was never told. Mine took 22 months for delivery. Thanks again, Tim

A follow up on setting up the Bronco for trailer towing. I have the Ford/Lumen OEM 4/7 pin wiring installed and just installed the new Redarc Tow-Pro Link trailer brake controller. This is hands down the easiest electric trailer brake install and high tech solution to controlling braking and sway suppression. There is no drilling or disassembly of any dash or body panels. It just plugs in between the 7pin wiring harness and socket mounted on the hitch receiver. The control head unit is tiny and plugs into any usb power and mounts anywhere convenient. Literally a 5 minute install. This set up works both with my boat trailer which has disk surge brakes and requires a lock out solenoid for backing the trailer, and heavy duty double axle utility trailer with electric brakes. The Redarc Tow-Pro doesn’t control the surge brake on the boat trailer- just the electric brakes on the utility trailer. The brake light signal that is passed through the 7pin connector actuates the lock out solenoid for backing.
