You can get used to a two-by-four whopping you upside the head every few minutes as well, but should you? This is a habit I have found very hard to break. Luckily, it only happens to me when I first get in an automatic and not at stop lights!
I honestly tried to get used to an automatic. I bought a new Bronco Sport before I got my Bronco, and after maybe 15K miles it was clear that I could never get used to the automatic. I've been driving manuals for over half a century, after all, and kept stomping down on the floorboard where the third pedal should be. And it's not just the habit; it's the experience (or lack of it). I never felt like I was in control - particularly in bad weather. I want to put torque down where I want, and WHEN I want it.
