This is a habit I have found very hard to break. Luckily, it only happens to me when I first get in an automatic and not at stop lights!
You can get used to a two-by-four whopping you upside the head every few minutes as well, but should you?

I honestly tried to get used to an automatic. I bought a new Bronco Sport before I got my Bronco, and after maybe 15K miles it was clear that I could never get used to the automatic. I've been driving manuals for over half a century, after all, and kept stomping down on the floorboard where the third pedal should be. And it's not just the habit; it's the experience (or lack of it). I never felt like I was in control - particularly in bad weather. I want to put torque down where I want, and WHEN I want it.

Yes and I have used it, but the traffic there is stop, go 15mph, stop, then 60mph, then 80mph, ... then stop ... step and repeat. Hard to stay in any one gear for long. Besides, my brain needs the workout.
... understand live in SoCal 50+ years.

I was referring to the anti-stall feature. let the clutch out and let it just roll with feet off the gas [depending on how slow the traffic is ... granny or first]

3:18 minute mark traffic gear

I use granny occasionally, but it's a bit too slow for most traffic situations. Works well in super slow traffic, but then traffic speeds up and I end up going to higher gears. That is a really good video. I watched before I got my Bronco.

...but when you DO need it, it's there! You don't have that stump-pulling option at all with an automatic.

Crawler gear is so freaking good on slow steep obstacles or loose rocks. Set it and forget it.

I hear manual drivers are also more likely to be quite handsome and charming.
^^ FACT. ^^

When I roll into downtown Ennis MT on a Friday night after a day on the river all the cowgirls throw their panties at my Bronco. Wrangler butts drive me nuts.

With lockers and crawling up rock faces, how can you beat it? Around here, the worst my Bronco will see are forest paths when hunting and snow in the winter, so that won't happen. But what DOES happen is pulling stuff on the farm and pulling vehicles out of bad situations with recovery straps. Again: there is no equivalent of this for the automatic transmission, and this important feature is rarely brought up. It certainly didn't come up at the last Off-Rodeo I attended.

29,372 lb-ft of torque at the wheels and a 94.75:1 crawl ratio.

You could move your house with that.

it is clear manuals don’t help the brain if you guys keep looking for/stomping on non existent clutch pedals…plus live with the falsehoods manuals somehow offer better performance than modern automatics…but sure they can be more fun/engaging sometimes (plus more macho 😜)…I gave up manuals for actual work (off roading and towing) back in the ā€˜80s…party on!

We need all the help we can get. It was bad enough with Google Maps withering our hippocampi while driving. Now AI is going to make humanity exponentially dumber in no time.

So go buy a motorcycle. Because science!
