Awe man. That's terrible. I was about to order one for my new Bad Squatch.

Question (more then likely a stupid one since you seem so through) but did you happen to mount it in the orientation, mentione in post #140 by @murrman , and very tight with zip ties to a non moving part:

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/installing-the-perimeter-alarm-plus-—-diy-how-to-writeup.48249/post-2734049

And then adjust/experiment with the sensitivity.

Reason I ask is I have read a lot about these and the mount location and correct-side-up appears to makes a big difference, with sensitivity adjustment of course. Compared to those that mounted elsewhere and a different orinentation.

I was about to order and give it a shot, but then just saw your post.

Thank you sir!
Geo
I mounted it exactly like that. And used a zip tie gun to make sure it is tight.

Damn. That's not good to hear.

I'd hate to throw away $255 plus the time to install to only be frustrate like some others. Though seems like there are some (lucky?) users where it is working well. So... decisions... decisions... ugh

I went to my local Ford dealer, and they printed out instructions. I followed them, and all seemed well. After activating the shock sensor, only stimulus to the front passenger door elicited a response. I guess now I have to adjust the sensitivity. I had it on the half way setting. The instructions from Ford have you do a more thorough adjustment of the sensitivity with the window down and hitting the steering wheel. I’ve exhausted enough brain cells today. I’ll try it tomorrow and report back.

I will grab some photos tonight. But I mounted it vertical to the main module so that the sensitivity knob was in the upper portion and accessible from the front. Zip tied it tight.

I just finished installing this. My experience:

No one is joking about how hard it is to unplug the wiring harness. You can feel it, but not see it. After much struggle, I used a offset flathead screwdriver and got it to release. It was the highlight of my whole week when I felt it click. If I had started with this tool, it would have saved me a lot of grief. I was working with my hand behind my back to do this.

I didn't have the LED and immediately noticed that without it, you have no way to know if it's armed. Online ordering still has it with a 70.00 install requirement, I ordered it in person at my dealership. Realize if you don't get the LED, you don't know if it's on.

The notification in Ford pass works. Ford is shifting to a subscription based alarm notification service, but so far not for the 2023 Bronco.

Overall, a easy install after I got the wires loose. If someone opens my door when the top is off, it will go off and my phone will get a notice. This is what I wanted.

Is there a way to arm/disarm the system other than locking/unlocking the vehicle? I don't have the led, but just assume that it's armed when I locked the car, and disarmed if the car's unlocked.

Other than lock/unlock, just disabling the shock sensor. You are correct that it should be armed when you lock the car. I like having the visual confirmation, it was cheap and an easy install.

I actually didn't know you could disarm just the shock sensor. That's nice to know, thanks!

Installed it today. I didn't have any trouble unplugging the harness but I did have trouble plugging it back in. The overall install took about 20 minutes and tests all worked as expected. I do need to play with the sensitivity. It gets windy here and I don't want it going off all the time.
