Been watching for these to be available. Just showed up on Discount Tire's web page @ $474 a tire (versus $375 for the OEM BFG KO2). It seems like the tread width on them is not excessive like some other E-load 37x12.5 (such as the Trail Grappler which sounds like it rubs in OEM size), and interestingly enough Toyo shows a Braptor (with a sick Armadillo top) as one of the vehicles on their page with them fitted.

https://www.toyotires.com/product/open-country-rt-pro/

Biggest downside I can see is the 77 pounds of weight (versus 65 for the BFG) and for better or worse, the E-load rating. Likely a bit oversized compared to the BFG though (36.8 vs 36.5 inches based on manufacturer and we know BFG likely runs smaller than that). Also very deep tread (20/32").

I have just under 15K miles on my KO2 now and am pretty sure I could sell them as take offs if I was to swap out to recover some of the money put into a change. I don't really dislike them, but also don't have any love for them if that makes sense (first BFG I've had on a vehicle since the stock KM on my 2012 Wrangler).

The RT Pro is appealing since it will likely give close to mud tire performance and durability offroad without sacrificing on road comfort versus an AT that much. Snow performance is the only other thing I'm mildly worried about, but my vehicle will likely only see snow a couple times a year (on trips to the north for skiing).

Anyone else thinking about giving them a shot or already taken the plunge?

I have them in 37x12.50-17
They worked great in Moab, aired them down to 17 psi and they were very grippy on that terrain.
On the highway I haven't noticed them to be any louder then my Toyo R/T Trails I have on another set of wheels, although Toyo rates the R/T Pros as a 3.5 compared to the 4.0 rating of the R/T Trails
in quiet ride rating. 1-5, 5 being best.
The dry weather handling characteristics are the same as the R/T Trails.
For street driving I run them at 38 psi.
I'm very happy with the performance of the R/T Pros for both street and off-road driving.

The owner of the Bronco on their site is my buddy Scott aka 512braptor on IG. If you have IG hit him up for details! He loves them.

Don't use IG but amusingly I did see he had posted a review on Toyo's site praising them (particularly funny that it's the owner of the vehicle featured on their site :)).

At this point I think the only hesitation I have is the potential compromise in snow performance versus a more typical 3PMSF AT tire. I did drive my Jeep with a couple of MTs though (BFG KM and a Trail Grappler) and never found them that problematic in snow (ice was probably the one thing that would give them more issues).

I just find the KO2 to be very "meh." Nothing wrong with it, but doesn't seem to excel at anything :). Almost spun around in Montana on ice with them earlier this year also :).

I agree on the BFG’s. I got rid of mine within the first 2-3k miles for some 37x12.5 Wildpeak R/T01’s which have been amazing the last 35k miles. Not sure if they’re snow rated. Not a concern in south Texas 😆 only downside to them is the added weight which drug the fuel mileage down a good bit, but they have a really tough sidewall which is needed for the type of off-roading I do a lot.

FWIW, the only tire I have ever cut offroad was a BFG KM C-load on my Jeep. I realized I was losing air about half way down Black Bear Pass with a very small sidewall slice. It was great :). Amusingly I just kept adding air to it the rest of the trip versus swapping to my spare (in retrospect, a very stupid decision but fortunately it did not fail catastrophically) and drove it home to get a new set of Trail Grapplers (and sold my 4 leftover BFGs) :). I do worry about the sidewalls of the KO2 though a bit, especially given the sharp rocks we have in areas out here in the southwest. I had convinced myself E-loads were a bit overkill, but mainly when I was topping out on level 4/5 trails predominantly (with my last 4Runner).

I've heard good stuff about the Wildpeak R/T. It is not a 3PMSF tire either though (need to go AT4W for that). I ran a E-load AT3W on my 4Runner for awhile and they were great tires, but tough to keep in balance (which is amplified by the crappy steering rack design of the Toyota).

What sort of gas mileage drop did you see with the E-load? I already barely break 14 mpg on most tanks (and that's just going with the on-board computer). I figure my roof rack probably has cut stuff down a bit already.

Snow traction is one of those things I rarely need also being in Arizona, but if I happen to hit storm days during travel while skiing, I can end up covering several hundred miles of gnarly road conditions once or twice a winter. Once my EV6 lease is up in December 2026 though, I'll be switching over to a vehicle better suited for ski road trips than my Bronco (that new Explorer Tremor looks freaking tempting with the 3.0L).

I'm assuming you're referring to the AT (versus the Baja Legend EXP)?

Yes, along with Dick Cepek back in the day for my other vehicles. Never took the plunge on any of my vehicles though. I've heard very good things about the Baja Boss AT and if I don't go to something more aggressive earlier, I'd consider them once I've worn my KO2 down below 50% tread (but probably wouldn't rush to change to them).

I just needed to replace my trashed Goodyears on my EV6 GT after 21K miles, so may honestly try to run the KO2s through this coming winter season and see how my tread is doing by next spring. I'm around 12/32 still after ~15K miles. I'm assuming I can probably get them to 30K before they're about 50% worn.

I average about 13.5 these days. It was probably 1.5-2mpg better with the factory 37’s.

I’ll get 12.5-13 on road trips but I’m usually doing 80-85mph so it’s understandable

just added 35x11.5 r/t pros; no trail time yet. Sparse choices for 11.5” E-rated. Maxis Razr AT’s were rock collectors; may use for winter tires.

Damn, those wheels have been at the top of my list - but, I didn’t realize they made a version w/o the ugly fake headlock bolts that weren’t chrome. What specs did you go with?

They are the polished version; powder coated in a light texture/low gloss. Chrome center caps lightly blasted and Cerakoted.

Oh damn. Nice work. Odd they don’t offer them in black.
