Today my Bronco eagerly awaits its new rock sliders coming in the mail. Here she sits watching our hill for the FedEx driver.

We’ll see if I get determined enough to install them this evening or get a 6 pack and have my buddy do it for me on his lift

i visited the Frank Raines OHV park in Patterson CA yesterday. It’s probably the closest OHV area/trails near me but still a 2 hour drive. The trails were dry, so no mud.

CRUNCH!

Small cement/plastic pole in a parking lot below my line of sight. Pulled out of spot and crunch - was barely moving. Ordered a new fender and flare, door, lower hinge and wiper fluid tank. Will be painting the entire side. While at it, will be painting the flares (white) as well.

Better than new! New fender and door and entire side painted. Ran out of time to paint the flares…future project.

Finally cut off my frame extensions in prep for my Lobo/Warn hidden winch install. This was a major, scary step for me. I was worried I would damage Smokey (my Bronco) or me.

Started out with an angle grinder but transitioned to a small sawzall. For me, sawzall with a Diablo Steel Demon Carbide blade worked better, too many sparks flying with the angle grinder to really see where I was cutting.

Now, just waiting on my Ford Performance fairlead to get delivered and soon I will be done!! Last major upgrade to my 2026 Badlands. Photos in no specific order.

Finally go my Ford Performance Factor 55 fairlead, so here is my Lobo hidden winch plate and my Warn winch, now just waiting to be installed. I am hoping I don't have to relocate my winch control electronics. Keep my fingers crossed.

Well I wasn’t going to do it, but then I got some shade and a couple beers and figured why not?

The good -
love em.
Very stout, I have zero worries about these not being up to the task.
The 20 degree angle is perfect in my opinion regarding trail function and can still utilize it as a step.

The frustrating -
RCI shorted me 3 washers and a lock washer so I’m unable to complete the passenger side tonight. Tomorrow I will drive with a single slider to the hardware store looking all kinds of goofy
The packaging leaves a lot to be desired. The boxes were rather destroyed upon delivery and when I finished opening them up (the little that survived transport) it was obvious why. A small amount of plastic wrap on the ends of the sliders, a few chunks of foam randomly placed, all inside a large plastic bag. Hence the sliders came a little scratched. No big deal being there intended use will do a lot more paint damage, but still.

Road Little River Canyon WMA today.

Went in on trail 5, turned R on 4, crossed the river. The water was low so we ate lunch on a rock mid river. Continued on trail 4, L on 2 to CR, L then back into the WMA on trail 3. 3 had some ruts/washouts but not terribly bad. Crossed the river again the R on 5 to nearly out of the WMA. Then u-turn and all the way back down 5 back out of the WMA.

What a beautiful day.
