It'll be pretty hard to spot the difference between the 3.0 and 2.7 without getting a close look at the engine bay.
It might have a 2.3L in it. Heck it might have a concrete block for ballast weight. Doubt it, but one never knows what they might do in the interests of time and money. What ever it is, it's probably not a 3.0L and they want to avoid a bunch of misinformation and conspiracy theories.

I agree with the assumption from earlier this is the bones of a Badlands, my initial suspicion is that the model is going to be a Badlands with the new motor and interior upgrades.

To me, thats a-ok!

a 3.0 on 35"s with a 4.7 diff is going move, they could of gone down in gearing too to make it more sporty if they wanted but they stuck with the better crawler gear which I can respect.

The Ford guy said folding steps are NOT as beefy as a true rock rail. But the linkage looked fairly stout. I'm not sure, but I think the step itself was an aluminum extrusion. And with out full skids, probably not a great rock crawler, but I'm sure it will dig and claw it's way better than either of our WTs.

Edit: Ford guy said the rails are NOT as beefy as a rock rail. My bad....forgot a very key word in there with the "NOT"!

Hmmm... that does point out something interesting. Aluminum extrusion is going to bend easily, its good for maintaining true flatness over long runs, I've never offroaded with auto steps either so I'm mostly just rambling. I'm wondering if the Ford rep saw it tested or if they are reading from promo material,. Also hope they keep all the armor under neath, I think you said this only had the front skid plate?

It doesn't have to be a hardcore crawler, but I get your point, its really easy to bottom out when boulders are in the way.

Oh yeah, I was also very pleased to see it had the steel rear bumper and not the plastic unit that came on both of our WTs.

I've seen people mentioning 70k MSRP 2026 Badlands. I have actually seen stickers are high as 74k on Hoss 3.0 Badlands. So 75 or even 80k for the Filson Bronco (Filco? Bronson?) doesn't seem bad in the slightest.
I priced out a fully loaded Badlands and I think it was 72-73k. I guess why not pay a little more for better interior, bigger engine, etc.

At 6'2" I could do without the steps, and keep the badland's rock rails, and I hope they allow you to option the full steel bumpers and full skids

It's missing some BL stuff, but adding skid plates or Mod bumper or a SBD is easier than putting in a 3.0L.

Correct, but this is a prototype pre+production type gig and not in final form, so they wouldn't let us open the hood. My guess is there is not a 3.0L in there and they don't want pictures and questions about what actually is under there. Yes, is has the HOSS 3.0 Fox shocks. I personally really think this thing is a good value, particularly if the exclusivity means something to you.
I am actually considering making the switch from my 2024 Wildtrak. Considering being the key word. I love my WT a lot. The Filson is sounding like a reasonable upgrade.

We have a '24 WT as well (with Lux and painted top). It was a good deal in July of '25. Would I trade up? No, but I'm also a cheap ass. While more power is ALWAYS better, I have not found the 2.7L lacking. We have RCI slider/steps on our WT. The WT interior colors are not for everyone, but it works pretty darn well IMHO. The Filson is very nice, but I don't see the cost/benefit for us trading in our '24. Someone with a lesser model or just entering the Bronco rodeo of good times, the Filson should be a consideration if the price is in scope and the features check your boxes.

I’m guessing Filson brand carriers are very small shops…..must be, honestly I grew up camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, logging etc and I never heard of Filson until this Bronco edition. I’ll be waiting until they hit the dealers I guess.
I was at my local Costco yesterday (San Diego) and they had Filson backpacks for about $160. Would not surprise me if soon a Bronco out front by the hot dogs n pizza. 🤣

Yeah yeah, not their high end stuff according to Google.

When will they be updating the link with the rest of the cities/times? I'd like to try and catch one of them. The Ford event link keeps coming up blank, and the other link only has the first 4 cities.

charlotte is 2 hours away from me, I wonder if it'd be worth it to check it out in person.
