Forscan/FDRS fuel tank size fix for 30.1 gal tank on 2025 Bronco Raptor - has anyone gotten DTE to read correctly?

Im not arguing that the tank is taller, but this is not a new problem with the Bronco. i installed a 55 gallon in f350, that tank was taller, longer and wider. the DTE is still representative, in the f350 if i get 10mpg with a 55 gallon tank i should have ~550 miles at the upper most range of the float, and when the float reads 1/2 then i should have ~275 miles. now at the extreme ends of the thow there will be variations and i can live with as all things DTE it is approximate
Hmmm. We don't seem to be on the same wavelength here....

Was your F350 tank able to be set to an aftermarket size? I'm reasonably sure that when a vehicle has a factory option for a larger tank (which I'm sure the F350 does), then there will be a seting for it. For Ford it's FORScan.

Regardless, I suspect that your F350 tank is probably closer to factory height at the float than the FK.

Again, that's the primary issue with the FK, it is both taller/deeper and thus the float is not correct topped out NOR nearer to empty when we are concerned with DTE. Again, prior posts, in the other long thread have shown that the FK is far from accurate at both full and as far as DTE goes.

Ok so i have spend more time that i wanted to verify :)

the depth at fuel hanger of the new tank is 3/8 of an inch deeper than the depth at fuel hanger of the factory tank. So lets call it 1/2 an inch to make sure we have some extra give.. seeing as the float is fixed, there will be a point in time when the tank level will function exactly as it should across the full lenght of motion.

to your point at the top you will have your DTE not move as the float has not moved until more fuel has been consumed. at the bottom end of the range you will have extra fuel at the bottom of the tank. to account for the extra 1/2 inch of depth, both of these things i can live with.

What i want is for when the float starts to move i get a representation of the correct amount of fuel based on the tank size. so what i mean is this weekend i filled up and the tank is 30 gal and average mpg is 14.4 so my DTE should say 432 miles until empty, what i saw was 288 miles until empty. i drove to when my gauge read half a tank and DTE stated 138 miles until empty, when i filled up i filled 14.8 gallons which is just about half of a 30 gallon tank. so the float is representing the correct amount off fuel in the tank but the DTE said 138 as opposed to 220 like it should

DTE calculation is easy its average fuel consumption x tank size and then decrement where fuel level is. i just cant find where i can update the tank size to allow fo the correct starting point. i know DTE is never perfect, heavy foot it falls faster, hyper mile and it increases. i just need it to be representative so at a glance i can see 220 miles to empty vs the 138 with out having to do the math in my head.

And, as also noted in the other thread, this requires an adjustment to the fuel system software, which simply isn't available in the Bronco.

So, again, everything is off with this tank swap; full level, DTE (always) and level near E.

This is the price to pay with the much larger tank.

no offence, but i hope to prove you wrong :)
Zero offense. I would simply love to be wrong as I'm strongly considering this tank myself!

As you probably saw in the other thread there was considerablr claims and promise of this being something user selectable in ForScan, it just didn't work.

In theory it's incredibly simple, but in practice it's going to be difficult. Perhaps changing the Bronco fuel tank adjustment UI and code with that from a F-150 through ForScan or FDRS would be a path. Perhaps a place to start would be with a very knowledgeable tuner.

Do keep us posted. You could likely sell a solution either directly to tank owners or perhaps to FK.

I'm a newbie here so please take this with a grain of salt, and I apologize in advance if I step on anyone's toes.

If I'm reading this right, the goal is to determine precisely how much fuel is in a tank that is a different size from the factory. Typically the fuel gauge sender will issue a value in the form of resistance (Ohms) to the on-board computer.

So when FULL the resistance may be 10Ω and may rise to 100Ω when EMPTY or vice-versa. If the fuel sender is the ORIGINAL then the values will no longer accurately represent the amount of fuel in the tank.

If that's the issue then perhaps its possible to adjust the resistance value coming from the sender so the computer realizes it has more fuel.

Would this gizmo work ?

A YouTuber did this with their ford super duty and they had to install some module that used a multiplier and did the math on DTE. They filled up and had like 900-1000 miles to empty on a full tank. Not sure if there’s anything like that for the Bronco yet.
