I was in a slight corner fender bender and using the opportunity to get an alternative grille and maybe Morimoto xrgb headlights for an amber look. I’m seeing the OEM OBX grille may not even come painted?? I don’t think my body shop even has that factored into the quote. I think the Wildtrak grille is the same thing where it’s only primed? May like OBX grille more regardless.

Anyway - looking for a tasteful gloss black aftermarket grille and I’m not seeing much after looking online. The only thing I like is maybe the aftermarket Raptor grille but it’s not gloss and not sure how I feel about fraptor vibes. The Hexa grille comes close as well but a bit too aftermarkety. Anything I’m overlooking? This is an OBX Sasquatch in antimatter blue.

given the paint and configuration I’m questioning if I just get the factory replacement parts I need and keep it stock - one OEM headlight replacement (same cost as set of morimotos) and the OBX grille. Right now the truck is largely unmodified, just front window tint and spacers with low miles and a bit of a unicorn.

Thoughts?

Honestly not aware of that many aftermarket grills to begin with. A few, but nothing like the photo you have - most are a bit more involved in the design, or mimic the Raptor grill

But what's stopping you from having one with the design you like painted? Base/Black Diamond come with that same grill you have a photo off, just in matte black, and Big Bend has it in matte gray - any of those would be easy to just throw a coat of gloss black over top of.

I suspect the lack of aftermarket is due to there being such an assortment of factory grilles that are easily swapped.

If you like the gloss black Wildtrak version, check either local junkyards (auto recyclers) or online at a place like car-part dot Com. Lots of totalled Broncos out there.

But yeah, otherwise pick the style you like and have it painted. Just remember, paint is cheap, but the prep work and the skill is not...and you generally get what you pay for in that field.

Good Luck!

I saw a Blackout edition OBX yesterday that had a glossy black in the style of your photo — first I had seen but maybe all OBX grills are that way and I just never paid attention

@broadicustomworks is the paint guru, he may have some tips or answers if he's around.
Thanks for the shoutout!
If painting is the option (Will be unless you happen upon a good WildTrak one used) for gloss black, then the main hurdles are selecting the style you want and whether to DIY or pay someone to paint it.
While I am not a fan on spray can products on main body panels (it works fine for wheel wells, skid plates, frame, etc), there are some advancements in the field that help DIY folks get more even coverage. It will not weather or last as long as actual professionally applied auto paints with clear coat but is often the right decision at a reasonable price point. Some paint companies will sell you a ready to spray kit that IS actual automotive grade paint with a 2K clear.
Otherwise I'd venture to say for someone to do it at a body shop should not charge more than a couple hundred to spray a grille and supply all the materials. If they are, then they are robbing you.
Most of us have a few black formulas on-hand at all times for stuff like this.
I always keep some GM 8555 black on hand for this very thing, and it makes for a good ground coat under some other colors.

Had you tried searching the FB Marketplace for an OBX grill takeoff?

You are correct that any grill intended for paint (not the old Base/Black Diamond grills) from the parts counter will only come in primer.

Keep in mind that you have the HIGH/LUX package with the 360 cameras. Hope you can salvage the shroud behind the grill that supports the camera mount or else you'll have to order that too.

Considering a raptor grille painted gloss black. Or maybe this new modular grille that came out for different paints. The auto body will already be mixing me antimatter blue and black. Thoughts? ChatGPT didn’t do the best job here..

My 26 OBX has a gloss black grill from the factory.

I've seen them on eBay while searching for a good deal on a Base/Big Bend grill. That's the easiest way to get a gloss black (OBX) grille.

Have you considered looking for an OEM Wildtrak grille? It's a gloss black version of the Badlands grille, and imo looks much better than the Big Bend/OBX style grilles.

Wildtrak grille with black letters is 👌🏽 in my opinion

Find something other than a Braptor grill. Thats a party foul in my book.

Good points on Fraptor. I may go with the new modular grille that just came out from ford. The paint work and cost are basically inline with my auto body quote to buy a new OBX grille and paint (someone hit me and paying out of pocket).

thoughts? Using AI. Trying to do a combo of gloss black, antimatter and maybe a gray or silver to match MIC bumper. You could paint the outer section one color then stack the middle sections then the horizontal bars. It comes in pieces. The shop will already have antimatter paint mixed up for my new fender

thinking from bottom outer layer to top all with white letters
1. gloss black / gloss black / AB
2. Gloss black / AB / gloss black
3. Gloss black / dark gray / AB
4. AB / gloss black / AB

not all photos shown. What combos do you guys like?

Can't really tell much difference in the bottom two. I would go with the modular grill. I'd paint the outer edge AMB to match the body panels. Then gloss black on the inset around the headlights and the inset behind the BRONCO letters. The horizontal accents painted AMB.
