First Mystery On My New Bronco

2026 60th Anniversary with 412 miles. When I make a sharp left hand turn I can hear a distinct "clunk" that sounds to me like it's coming from the right rear. My first thought was the cargo area. I threw a set of jumper cables (in a soft case) and a tow strap in the little cubby under the cargo floor. That was my first thought. I checked them and they were secure as was the jack and all the other items in the cubby. Checked under the rear seats...nothing. Checked the rear seat belts and they were both tucked securely into their holders.

It will be going to the dealer when I hit 1000 miles for an oil change and I will surely mention it to them but, as much as I would like to figure out what is making the noise, I'm really not excited with the thought of them them tearing all the plastic trim apart.

Any suggestions that a non-mechanic like myself could check?

You haven’t unknowingly placed it into a 4x4 mode. Maybe some assembly line worker is missing a tool.

Are your roof panels and wiring secure (rear driver's side corner of the cargo area)? My seatbelts clunk against the frame, adjust them so they sit flat and see if the sound persists. Do you keep your little pouch of tools in the cubby in the cargo area like I do?

The next best thing is to have someone (without hearing loss) sitting in the back seat while you drive to help localize it.

I heard a lot of "is there a window rolled down back ?!?" in my 2dr. Turns out the rear seal was "flat' and needed to be replaced. Take it as a warning!!

But seriously, that sounds like somethings hitting during compression, or is loose like a sway bar. My truck had a sway bar that clunked when I turned right.

How fast are you going? Is it on all surfaces? Have someone ride in the back seat, or you ride in the back seat when someone else is driving and listen.

Crawl underneath (after the exhaust cools) and pull on suspension components, and everything else not a cable or harness. If something is loose you'll know. Pay attention to the sway bar and shocks.
Look for loose fasteners, missing nuts, missing or mis-aligned bushings.
