I forgot what locking nuts I bought but the key is a different size than the lug nuts, so I have to carry a socket set in case I ever have to remove the spare because the stock lug wrench does not fit.

You might have got a Jeep key instead of a Bronco key. Same thread o the studs but different sized lug nuts.

The same thing happened when I ordered my Advanced wheel locks. I gave them a call and they sent me the correct key for a Bronco. I returned the Jeep key.

Nope! my set is five (4 plus 1 on the spare) with two keys. The problem was the scissor jack. Learned that lesson: I now carry a bottle jack.
It was an interesting time: enough guys came out to help with the change, I felt like I was in a NASCAR crew pit! One guy even had an impact driver. But to accuse me of not having my lock key--Fie, fie! Thou dust besmirch my reputation!

@Easy-v You can buy them as a set of five. Advisable, as the spare is probably the most vulnerable to theft.

First thing i bought for mine when i bought it was locking lugs. Made me feel a little better staying a week in Houston visiting family.
They live next to a massive flea market venue and random people park all around them. . Everything needs to be chained down

Oh, this is getting complicated!
(I park on the street in one of those cities where criminals are coddled.) You get 4 wheel locks in a parts-store package. I needed to protect five wheels. So I bought two packages, with two different keys. I used all eight. So there were two different lock designs on that wheel, and somebody with a lug wrench was getting confused by all that.
Yes, the bottle jack and the impact driver were a big help, but if I didn't have the keys, we would have been asking for an impact chisel to just break the locked lugnut off.

Just a thought...

My son's '63 Willys has left hand thread studs and nuts on the drivers side, and right hand thread studs and nuts on the passenger side -somone obviuosly thought that was a good idea backnin the day.

A Crafty S.O.B. might swap out a stud or two on the spare tire carrier for a wrong-handed threaded stud. A goblin intent on mischief in the dark might not catch on that he's tightening one or two of the studs and not loosening them. May end up twisting a stud off... or may end up stripping his little lug nut extractor tool... or may up running off in the dark frustrated...

That was a thing back in the day Chrysler products were the last to use left hand thread. They phased them out 1971-1975 by which time all their wheel lugs were right hand thread. The theory was that left hand thread on the left side would help prevent lug nuts or lug bolts from loosening up due to wheel rotation. It was more common with other makes at one time including Ford, International, some GM, and some foreign makes.

You'll often see older Chrysler products with a stud missing on the left side because someone would twist them off instead of trying to figure out why he couldn't loosen a lug nut.

I live in California, the Bay Area. We have lots of crime. I have two different wheel locks on every tire including my spare. I also use a steering wheel lock and my Bronco is a manual. Will these stop a dedicated low-life thief from steeling? Maybe not, but the idea is to be less desirable than someone else.
