I recently got to see this blow off valve kit by @ymotorsport on instagram. Getting to hear it in person on their ranger raptor build, it definitely has the noise we all love from a blow off valve.
I wanted it for my bronco raptor so I dropped it off with them, but I was really stoked to see this shop as there is a lot of proper motorsport experience that goes into their work/builds. The owner's bronco is getting ready to do a twin turbo 5.0 v8 swap, I know a lot of it will be posted on their instagram!
Getting to talk to the owner about it, the cool difference is that this is a 100% vent to atmosphere blow off valve, using a Turbosmart RacePort BOV. I've seen the other plug and play options are 30/70 for 50/50 from what I recalll. This kit works and integrates the factory BOV controls, but of course with all the fun noises of the full 100% vent to atmosphere.
The kit / install includes a new charge pipe, the hardware for install, and I was okay with swapping the factory connector for a DTM plug to get the BOV to function. He did share he is looking into making an adapter harness, but it was a simple rewire. Seeing all the cool motorsport stuff, I got to option the AN Fittings and PTFE line for my kit as he offered it since I wanted something a little more custom. As compared to a lot of the aftermarket products that come powdercoated, I was stoked to hear it comes cerakoted. I know the gold could be loud, but I figured it's part of the fun and cool factor. Other than the plug swap, it's full plug and play - stock replacement and can easily be reverted to stock. There was no tune or reprogramming that was needed.
Putting a few miles on it now, it is such a fun addition. On my way home, I couldn't help but to load up the throttle and let off to hear the blow off valve. Honestly, video does not do this any justice. Having friends that have done the spacer or other BOV swaps, this is a lot louder lol!
