Overall, I like it. Fit & finish is better than factory, but noise level is the same. Had a couple of minor issues with it that many others have had. Both rear hinge covers broke, which they replaced under warranty. Also had the adhesive fail on one of the rear lift cylinders, but it was an...
Raptor with a few mods. ADV 4.5” fenders, Anderson carbon fiber hood and top, Foutz Motorsports orange billet UCA’s, front collars, and rear links.
I have the same problem on mine. I talked with him a few months ago and he said it’s something that has to be disabled in Forscan. He was willing to do it right then, but I didn’t have my Forscan laptop with me at the time and I never have followed up with him about it.
In the last year that...
Would you mind snapping a pic of the tailgate bracket cover? I’ve been thinking about getting one, but wanted to see a real world pic of it first.
Can’t wait to see everything installed on your Bronco!
Sorry, don’t know. It is supposed to work with the 5100, which is a dual band model I considered.
Maybe someone on here that knows more about the ICOM radios can weigh in.
Since mine is mounted behind the glovebox on a Mountains2Metal plate, it’s nearly impossible to get to the SD card slot. I just left a programming cable plugged into it and ran it into the glovebox for easy access If I ever needed to re-program.
Really like your install!
Sorry, but I honestly don’t remember. I vaguely remember using it on the second radio and it being somewhat simplistic, but I can’t offer any meaningful insight.
I haven't found it to be too bad, but it's a possibility. On my Yaesu, the active transmit band is slightly brighter and has white characters on the display, while the characters on the other band are gray. You can tell from a quick glance which one is currently active. To switch bands, just...
I think that's just a marketing term Gigaparts uses for their MARS mod, but not really sure. I took a look at my order invoice when I was responding to @Tye and that's how it was listed, so I passed it along. No idea if they offer mod levels 1-3 or what those might entail.:D
Mine is the Yaesu FTM-400XDR. I think they recently discontinued it and replaced it with the FTM-500DR, though. Bought it from GigaParts with the MARS mod Level 4.
This is exactly why I installed the Yaesu Dual Band with MARS mod. I needed VHF for an EXO run, but also wanted UHF/GMRS to use when we take trips out West. Also didn't want to install 2 separate radios if I didn't have to.
I know that EXO requires at least a 50 Watt radio since they run in really remote areas. I think the handheld radios are usually in the 5-15 Watt range.
