2023 Black Diamond (small screen)
Symptom: When starting the truck, the initial screen animation runs, the radio turn on (no matter if it was left on or off), and the screen goes black. No other symptoms, warning messages, etc. Backup camera works. USB ports have power.

M2M for me.
Anything that used the hard top bolts was a non-starter for me. I like to take the top off, and basically all of my recovery gear hangs from these.
M2M gives good clearance to get to the hard top bolts as well.
Fit and finish could not be better. Packing for shipping was good...
My eighteen year old daughter has been driving our '14 JK Rubicon all winter. I asked her how the 4wd shifting has been going and she replied "I haven't needed it yet." Granted it's wearing Grabber ATx's, the finest non-winter dedicated tire in the winter I have experienced...
Edit: I just watched https://turnoffroad.com/products/2021-ford-bronco-billet-upper-control-arms-pair?variant=44705225900210
These control arms should be good at no lift. I will bet neither shop was aware that the heim joints were adjustable and skipped the adjustment/alignment procedure shown...
Solved for now. I used Aux switch 2. I made my own harnesses using Mil Spec Tefzel wire, 12 AWG to the bumper, 16 AWG to each light. Wrapped the harnesses with spiral wrap with an additional outer layer of fiberglass sleeve (on the portion outside the engine compartment) for appearance. From the...
For a VHF/UHF radio, antenna positions 2 & 3 are recommended. These don't work with a removable roof.
With a cowl mount, I have transmitted clear nearly 40 miles and in the proper conditions, received from about 100 miles away. I use this antenna...
I ran my dual band antenna on the driver's side as VHF can cause AM radio interference if the antennas are next to each other. GMRS (UHF) sits on the passenger's side.
This probably doesn't matter for me as I am typically listening to Carplay or Satellite but with the choice I figured why not...
I did the calculations. At 50 watts, for typical use, the antenna by the pillar is within acceptable limits. I estimated heavy on the duty cycle.
No problems with any interference when transmitting.
You are good for weatherproofing as is.
Good LED lights have good thermal management as heat is an enemy of an LED. (Maybe this is why heated lens LED lights have crappy warranties?)
The bad news is when you need your fogs the most, in a snowstorm, they will ice up and be worthless. Putting...
Actually a 2 mph difference. I am 99% sure that the digital speedometer is programmed to read 1 mph high over the calculated value. (I checked at a bunch of speeds.) So 70 mph on your speedometer is 69 mph calculated, 70 mph displayed, but 71 mph actual.
(EU regulations require the speedometer...
Just ordered round amber 500's and M2M bumper mounts. I generally prefer white for fogs, but figuring snow is the only time these will be used, I decided to give amber a try.
I really wanted to fill this space with a pair of smiley face daylighters but those would have been no help in the snow.
My Xterra had 265/75-16's, nominal 32's. 32" tires and a rear locker will take you far off-road, even more so with a two-door.
MT's are great on the street, great in the wet, and great in the snow. You pay for it a bit in wear. I ended up lifting my four door BD about 1.5" and going to 33's...
I have never even thought about the Cyber Truck. GTI has LED's and never had the problem. Excuse me for not thinking about the effect of snow and a flat grill until the problem occurred. Next time I'll be sure to commission a CFD model of the front end of any vehicle I am considering purchasing...
I have a manual transmission so no transmission tuning. The only place it really helped is passing. Before the tune while passing a car going ~55 mph, I would downshift to thirds and run it to about 4500 rpm before shifting to 4th. With the tune, I can get around as quickly just leaving it in...
Yet the NHTSA was sufficiently worried that someone with a one percentile BMI might have been too inconvenienced to put on their seatbelt and issued a recall (that I am NOT having done.)
The GTI does. I am guessing they don't ice up because they aren't perfectly vertical like in the Bronco.
The stock JK headlights were almost as bad on a clear night as the Bronco's in the snow. The H4 KC's are very good -- not LED good, but they won't ice up either.
After a couple of years of frustration, I have found a reliable method of having my iPhone (iOS 26.1) connect relatively quickly on the first try:
Use a quality cable. I have found Amazon Basics and Anker to be reliable. Truck stop specials not so much.
Wait for your radio to boot.
Unlock your...
