That makes sense. I always figured that you are supposed to pull the cover off when you use the winch, if nothing else to avoid it getting too hot. But it is probably fine for short use periods.
Thanks, didn't occur to me to leave the connection tucked up under the winch cover. Seems to stay dry under there.
Follow-Up question: It looks like we have the same winch cover - the Warn cover with the FP logo. How do you use those bungee cords? The tightening clips are at the back where...
Is anyone using the Warn Hub wireless controller and phone app? If so, do you leave it installed and plugged in all the time? The instructions say to strap it to the frame, and leave it connected. But if I only hit trails couple times per month, that seems unnecessary, and a lot of wear and...
SOLD locally.
I’m in Cincinnati - I bought this kit last year and ended up with an aftermarket bumper, so only used the winch and L-bracket reinforcements. I have all the rest still in boxes if anyone is looking for the mount and hardware ti use with a winch of your choice. Planning to post...
Hi all,
I have a 2-door Badlands ordered with the steel capable bumper. I recently removed that to add the JCR Vanguard bumper (steel) and Warn Zeon 10-S winch (from the FP kit, but used the winch only). I don't know exactly how much heavier the JCR bumper is, probably 2x the OEM capable...
Just in case anyone else is reading this down the road, thought I’d answer my own question now that I have it installed. 😓
There is a CAC bracket (as labeled in the instructions) that is not compatible as it aligns with the clevis brackets on the OEM bumper.
But the inner and outer frame rail...
Good idea, but not the most convenient since the harness is unplugged and on my kitchen table where it’s warmer. 😀
I guess I can plug it back into the car long enough to test with the lights switch turned on.
I am in the middle of a bumper replacement, removed the OEM capable bumper with factory fogs, and splicing in some aftermarket LED fog lights in the new bumper. Rather than worrying about finding a compatible plug I am just going to hardwire the new lights into the harness. Just checking my...
I am removing my OEM capable bumper and replacing it with a JCR Vanguard bumper And winch. I have the old bumper removed and in the process of moving the wire harness and parking sensors. I am using the Ford Performance Warn winch kit because it was the most cost-effective option. I realize I...
Thanks for the good info / suggestions in this thread. I ended up ordering the Agency 6 billet winch shackle in raw finish. I looked closer at the fairlead that came with my Ford winch kit, it's very nice and decided to use it vs. going all-rope. I don't want to splice up a brand new winch...
Had not thought about this option since my kit came with a nice fairlead, like the clean look and nothing sticking out. Probably about the same price as a fancy hook.
The Ultrahook sticks out around an extra inch compared to the flat link options. So my thoughts were save some money and keep keep it narrower. But I do see the FP version of the Ultrahook comes with a rope guard, so if they have 20% off or better next week, I'll reconsider.
Installing new (aftermarket) bumper and winch over my holiday break and putting the final touches on my parts list. The winch is in my garage - Ford Performance / Warn winch kit, which comes with the FP branded Fairlead. I assume it's the same as a Factor 55 Fairlead - looks just like their...
