This is the right way to do it. Using the L shaped torx wrench from the door kit. I did it a different way which worked but was harder, and only after the fact did I realize that little L wrench wouldāve been perfect.
You donāt need to remove the rear cap. But as I recall, you do need a fairly flush (thin) ratcheting wrench and bit for a couple of the top bolts because there isnāt a lot of room.
I have your same king set up. The installer recommended spacers, which is what I went with (and I know you donāt want to do). I understand not wanting to change wheels, so relocating your resi seems the best option. Good luck.

Another comment on installation, be wary of the written instructions available online (nothing comes with the parts). At least one of the torque specs is flat out wrong.
