Hopefully this helps people considering Mangoal or FitcamX dash cams, and particularly those who do not have the auto dimming rearview mirror. Because I did not have the auto dimming rearview mirror, which has its own cable that can be used to power the dash cam, I could not use the recommended Dongar adapter and simply hook up any generic dash cam. So I believed I was limited to mangoal or Fitcamx (they are not the same company), which both offer integrated dash cams. FitcamX initially appeared to require the auto dimming rearview mirror cord, and also did not appear to offer the upgraded Starvis 2 image sensor, so I ordered Mangoal. On trying to install the Mangoal the housing cracked along a seam that was glued as part of the manufacturing process, but wasn’t very robust. So I returned it and just for the heck of it. I emailed FitcamX. It turns out they could simply add a different adapter (12-pin) that would connect behind the plastic housing, and they also offered the Starvis 2 sensor (Note, to do this you have to order directly from fitcamX, not on Amazon). I just installed it today and the plastic housing is thicker than the mangoal, and also there aren’t as many wires in the open space behind the FitcamX housing so it’s easier to install. The last thing I would mention is that the FitcamX user manual instructions seem much more clear compared to the Mangoal instructions. It basically seems the Mangoal product is in more of a beta stage than FitcamX. Both companies have excellent customer service for what it’s worth.
