I have had my Bestop eTop for about a month now and thought I would post a review. Backstory is that I sold my hardtop, moved to an OEM softop and then to eTop so I have experience with each.

In all I really like the top. It is very easy to open and close at any time so I’m convertible a lot more. It seems well engineered and the frame seems solid and motors smooth.

As for noise, I would place it between the hardtop and softop. It is louder than my hardtop but not as loud as the OEM softop.

What I don’t like is some of the fitment around the windows. Simply put there are gaps where the top doesn’t line up and it bothers my OCD. I have spoken with Bestop several times and they say it’s normal. I’m putting it out there so others know what to expect. I am also including some pictures of the top and some of the gaps for reference.

If anyone has any questions let me know and I’m happy answer or provide some additional pictures or input.

Thank you for sharing this. I have been seriously considering this as an option. Those gaps would scratch my ocd itch a little much. I almost feel like it can be stretched or pulled to come down further. Hopefully they can give you a solution. For what you paid it should be perfect.

Yes, driving my OCD crazy. I’m still hoping there’s a solution but not counting on it. This top was expensive so I’m still exploring.

Wild. Triggers my ocd. Might be fine with others but looks bad to me.

Are those gaps open to the inside? Can water get in there? I would think Bestop would be all over your issues trying to make it right, I bet everyone reading this that may have had thoughts of spending that much money are having second thoughts just based on Bestop blowing it off as normal. I know I would pause buying until they get yours right.

I appreciate you being transparent about the top, those pics are not a great endorsement, especially the shot from the rear.

curious on the rear hatch though, how does it open, does it use Velcro or zippers? It looks like it opens like a Jeep hatch which is light years better than the nonsense Ford came up with for the OEM top.

Seriously if I bought a new convertible of any brand from a dealer with a top that fit like that, I wouldn’t take delivery. I appreciate the transparency as well, but I gotta say that looks like sh*t.

Here is their pic from the website. It seems to fit much better than yours. May be an installation issue.

I looked at these also and it does indeed fit better. I plan to give Bestop another call today. These are marketing pictures so I would expect them to be perfect. My thoughts were that some of these areas would improve once the top stretched out some - not the case.

I wonder if Bestop is on this forum. They can see how blowing this off is bad for business for them. Its a great idea and concept but if the fit and finish isn't good to perfect there are 5000 reasons to not go with them. Plus installation. I hope they make it right for you. Looks like the installation shop might have phoned it in. Good luck bud! Keep us posted. I know i am watching this thread to see how it goes.
