Awesome, Moab is such a perfect spot for Thanksgiving wheeling - bet the weather's been great for trail rides!

I assume you ran the entire trifecta, poison spider, golden spike and gold bar rim. How long did it take? Any trouble at Gold Bar waterfall?

Nicely done--good video takes, too. Thanks--you got me inspired!
(Now come east and try some New England back trails and ravines. Winter run-off and spring rains create new rock obstacles every year!)

Yeah we ran the Trifecta on Wednesday... The waterfall near the end of Gold Bar has gotten very dug-out over the years and requires a level of throttle commitment we simply didn't have on this particular evening, so we all squared up to it, gave it 3 admittedly meager attempts, and then all pulled cable to get up/over. Start to finish was just under 10-hours on the trails from the time we left pavement at the Poison Spider trailhead to when we hit pavement again at Hwy 191 from Gemini Bridges road. We took more than our fair share of time at the viewpoints and could have easily carved 2-hours off the clock had we felt so inclined.

Hi, Which bumper do you have?
What front bumper you running?
The front bumper is a DV8 OE Plus series that I added a simple hoop to for some additional style points at Starbucks. I also fabricated a recessed winch mount and stuck it inside where they typically hide a 20" light bar.

Thanks for the info. Trifecta is on the list for our next trip. This past August we came in Gemini Bridges onto Goldbar Rim. Went as far as the waterfall. I went down and back up but my JK friends didn’t want to try it. The day we were there temp was low 90’s. Lots of grip.

You will enjoy it, there are a couple of drops as you meander through Golden Spike that I'd suggest maybe doing something to protect your spare tire/tailgate, but overall it's still a great combination of trails. We've run it more times than I can remember and I don't think I ever recall having issues with the waterfall, but the combination of sand on the rocks, moisture, and low temps really made it a challenge on this particular day:

Toby, I couldn’t agree more. Colder temps, dampness and sand on the waterfall make it much harder. We ran into four built jeeps at the gas station while on our way to gold bar rim. They had run the trifecta the day before and all four had to winch up the waterfall after dark. The other thing i think plays into it are tires. I run 35” BFG KO2’s at 16#. They are load range C and seem to have a softer more grippy compound than a load range E tire..

Again, we were there in August. I use the drag strip analogy, ie hot tires on a hot track hook up better. Slick rock gets pretty hot mid August. Load range C tires at 16# get fairly warm when it’s 95 degrees.

Thanks for responding and sharing your trip w/ us.
