I purchased this from @EZ4X4 about a month ago while they were running their gift card sale.
https://www.ez4x4.com/collections/f...ucts/ford-bronco-2-door-hard-top-remover-lift

I had been stalling on getting a hoist in general because the ones I came across were either too expensive or I didn’t have the room in my garage ceiling to run a hoist because of a drop down air duct system running across the ceiling. I just couldn’t bring myself to spending 900 dollars on a lift when frankly I didn’t know how long this stupid top was going to last with all the problems it has and having already had it replaced last year under warranty which expires this year in the spring.

Prior to getting the lift I had to bribe my wife to help me get it on an off the vehicle and she’s short and it’s a Sasquatch and one time we came close to dropping it last summer because the weight shifted funny. That would have been a really expensive mistake.

Well after digging around I came across the one from Ez4x4 and with the sale they were doing it seemed like a no brainer. So I ordered up some gift cards and bought one…great deal by the way!

the item shipped quickly and was packaged really well.

My initial thoughts.
Quality
Pros- certainly used nice heavy duty metal constructing this thing. Top notch in that regard. The crank seems to be really good quality, smooth in operation and came well lubed.
Cons - and I’m being picky here like reaaallllyyy picky but paint was flaking off in a couple spots on a couple of pieces but nothing a little touch up paint can’t fix. Again being quite picky especially given the price of sub500 dollars. And it wasn’t like big chunks of paint coming off..,just tiny spots… wasn’t even worth taking a picture of.

Assembly
The instructions surprisingly were not bad. I chose not to watch the video first and try to do it just off the paper. Everything was nicely explained with good pictures. I had no fitment issues everything came together nicely holes lining up and bolts pushing through smoothly. A lot of times with products that cost less than the competitors you are fighting that stuff sometimes to fit together and bolt up. Not the case here. Overall I think it took me a little over an hour to assemble it and that was after redoing a couple things cuz I wasn’t paying attention

The nuts and bolts
Just being honest here cuz I really dislike assembling things in general a bag of all the nuts washers and bolts lumped together in just a couple bags was not what I was hoping for. I would have liked to have seen them baggied up separately and labeled accordingly,

Pro tip - don’t rely on the tools that come with it, have to imagine anyone with this vehicle has at least a cheap socket set at home…but if you don’t for some strange reason go get some cuz you’re overdue…

I was pleased to see though that there was a cheat sheet with 1:1 sized examples for reference to check the bolts against. And most of the bolts had the necessary washers and matching nut already assembled to the bolt. That was a nice touch actually. Definitely sped up assembly by not digging around for the washers and nuts separately. So i just emptied all the bags and sorted the bolts by size.

Using it
This is the part I had patiently been waiting for. Record high temps in Minnesota this last Thur - Sun so I took a couple days off work to enjoy the weather and wanted to do so with no top on.

Everything was very smooth. Casters rolled nicely and firmly locked in place. The crank was if anything a bit on the slow side to operate but this gives you a lot more control of the lifting and prevents any sudden movement of the top in both raising and lowering, I appreciated that a lot.

storing the lift when not in use was another big reason I liked this one. It packs up realllly nice. Pull a few pins lift it up insert pins. Done. I’m quite limited on space in my garage so this was a huge plus for me. Sorry I don’t have a lot of pictures. Was too busy hurrying to enjoy the weather.

final verdict
I’m extremely happy with this purchase especially at the price point it’s at. I expect this thing to last much longer than the top ever will. The company was a pleasure to work with and will definitly be a goto for a door storage cart in the future.

thanks! @EZ4X4

I thought there is a way to adjust the level so it's not angled too much. Look at step 13 in the installation manual, I think that's the adjustment.

Someone else sent me a pic of their 2 door top on it and it doesn't look angled as much as yours.

I purchased mine at the same time, but it is still in boxes (with the door cart also) in my shed waiting for a couple of days above 60*.... thanks for the review, makes me feel better about buying, and a little less worried about it being still boxed up 2 months later.

Will,

This is an awesome review! I have the 4 door lift and cart. I'm able to adjust the angle by putting the upper cotter pin in a higher or lower hole. I'm going to add some pictures. I hope you had a great weekend enjoying the sun :)

So I’m planning on buying a lift soon and was looking pretty seriously at the ez4x4 lift.

My biggest concerns are stability, and now low can you get the top after removing?

I have a carport in the front yard and our back yard porch has a carport style cover. My hope is to remove the top and keep it on the lift for storage under the back yard porch. Does the top feel sturdy enough that I shouldn’t have to worry about wind blowing the cart off balance and costing a few thousand dollars? Does it seem necessary to strap it to the cart and weigh the cart down?

my strategy now has been to essentially lift the top off myself and set it on pallets in the back yard but I need my wife’s help when it’s time to put it back on.

I could get a measurement of the top of the lift in the next couple days for you.

as for outside in the wind. The lift itself is no way gonna tip less we are talking hurricane winds. I don’t know that I would want the top outside though. While it might not tip I can’t imagine strong winds catching that thing and flexing it a bunch can be good for it. I would want it protected from anything like that. It has straps to attach to the rear window hinges. It’s only supported underneath it by a 24” spread left to right centered. Hopefully that makes sense. So you have a lot of overhang unsupported which sitting in a garage is not a big deal. The wheels do have solid locks on them.

How well does the lift roll with the top on it? Would I have any trouble with the wheels on the lift if my garage floor isn't perfect?

How low can this go? I was thinking of storing the rear cap on a folding table. Txs

I have a decent lip between my garage and my driveway it had to roll over… I just lifted it up slightly and pushed it over the lip. No struggle with that. If you are talking about just some slightly uneven cracks I can’t imagine it would have any trouble. The casters are quite solid…thy just aren’t oversized which it doesn’t need to be

All the way lowered is about 63” give or take. You would need to add the thickness of the top to that number. Unfortunately I have mine packed right now and it got back down to freezing temps this week.

Interesting so is it 63" minus the height of the cap to get the lowest point (bottom of cap) that we can get the cap towards a table or the floor?

Great write up, and agree... the EZ4x4 Lift is excellent. I looked at the Brands, and EX4x4 was superior in many way... stability, tip-over: cracks, seams, etc not an issue, storage folding.
I take my Roof Panels off, either bag them or use moving pads (full painted roof), and lay all panels on the Top for storage without any concerns.

Its strength is great... with that you do get weight. But that weight works for you.

Here's a great comparison to other well known brands... done by EZ4x4. It clearly shows it's strengths.

Pitch of roof support is easily set with a pin... and can be decreased or increased as you begin to lift top.... quick 30 seconds, and lift it up and check your pitch.

NOTE on Crank... you have crank on side as per instructions. Brian (EZ4x4) told me over the phone to move it the Rear so it's out of the way of the Rear Window. It's easy to move, he gives you the few extra parts in kit, bolt as hoist strap anchor, etc.
@MongoTheBronco photo shows it on the Rear. The extra hole drilled in frame to turn head 90 degrees.

EZ4x4 Door cart: light weight aluminum, superb to other carts... and fits through standard
doorways. Bag Doors in door bags or without... holds securely. EX4x4 also sells a door bag that covers all 4 doors on door cart.

Few tidbits... they sell a nice Door alignment pins that you leave on the Hinge, and Top Thumb spin Bolts.
