Im probably crazy but I think the 2 door base is the best looking Bronco out there..
IMHO the base 2 door manual 2.3 is the clear sweet spot, not just for value, but also on-road handling (lowest mass), driver enjoyment, and with enough off-road chops to keep you out of trouble, Unless you haven't yet grown out of the Tonka toy look, or you're into crawling over rocks slower than you can hike them, then it's surely the trim to go for.

If there had been an option between the stock tires and Sasquatch, I'd have taken it. 32" maybe. Or simply the option to upgrade from the all-weather street tire to an all-terrain tire, in the same size.

Sasquatch makes it look like a toy, and I've never needed tires that big to get through tight spots.
Probably 99% of people don't need tires that large but they look damn good

I was all in on the Base Squatch w/2.7, but after getting lost in this thread I got to thinking. A Base 2.3 manual would have all the capabilities my '76 had with twice the HP, and 50% more torque. Would save me $9440 vs the Squatch. $700 for some 255/85/16 (33"), Plasti-dip for the top and flares gives me this.

Although, I may want a more capable off-roader than the '76, I got stuck a lot. Probably just get stuck worse with front/rear lockers though.

First generation Broncos didn't have PS, PB, AC or even a radio, common options at the time. It has been said 4dr broncos are not "real" broncos. The Base is the only "real" bronco. If your bronco has lighted vanity mirrors its a poser, a fake bronco. If you have heated seats and auto HVAC forget it you have a minivan for sure.

I, too, have a 1976 with V8. Is that accurate about the power?

You made my day! I hadn’t bothered to compare and had assumed the V8s of my previous Broncos were more powerful, but here is how they compare:

1976 Bronco (V8):
138 horsepower
245 lb-ft torque

1987 Bronco (V8):
188 horsepower
269.95 lb-ft torque

2021 Bronco with turbo EcoBoost 2.3L 4-cyl (not even optional V6):

270 horsepower
310 lb-ft torque

I am glad to know this now when a dullard says, “It’s not a real Bronco without a V8.”

Shit, I just texted this comparison to my brother who still said “Get the V8!!!!!”

A response from a friend:

“Look up the eco-boost. More efficient because it’s broken down so often. I asked dealer 2 weeks ago. Said he was looking forward to selling a bunch because they were always in shop.”

Just for grins, the next time you are in your current car. Take a look at the rpm you usually have running. Now plot those rpms against this chart of the 2021 2.3L:

Ford Bronco 2-Door BASE Bronco @ MAP 1618508789001

Are you being honest with yourself that you are consistently running at 3500-4000, or above, rpm? 🤷‍♀️

Do I consistently need that much HP?

It looks so sad with those little tires. I hope someone puts at least 31-32" tires on it. I like the base (I ordered one, but with 2.7 and SAS) so i understand but it still looks like it a USPS delivery vehicle, like one of those sad RH drive Jeep they used to have...

Torque is what makes it fun and easy to drive, even if its a sports car IMO

Well, it makes more torque sub 2000 rpms than a '76 V8 did anywhere in the rpm range, so yes I believe I am being honest to myself.

Not as sad as all the spotlessly clean 4x4s round these parts dressed-up as off-road champs, complete with comedy tires and an unused winch 😂
