I have a 2d manual trans BL on order. Going to upgrade to 35" or 37". Will be doing light off roading, but no rock crawling. Can the 2.3 engine be paired with 37"s? or bad idea?

Yep. Here is a gratuitous pic too.

The OP asked about the 2.3 being up to the task and I can confirm that it most definitely it. However, what is more important is having the correct gearing. As mentioned, mine is a manual BL with 4.7 gearing. I had initially thought I would need a taller gear but after the first time I drove it I realized the 4.7's handles the large tires just fine. And yes, that includes taking it off-road and over some fairly difficult and rocky trails. But, would, not recommend running 37's on any less of a gearing.

Yes, it’s a 2d manual Badlands, which comes with 4.7 gears. Should be ok then?

That’s just what I was hoping to hear. Looks great! How much lift, and what is the minimum lift I can safely do? (Starting at non-Squatch BL)

This is one of the many reasons the stock BL (w/7MT) is such a good platform. I would have loved to get a 4 dr basemansquatch but…

Yep. Here is a gratuitous pic too.

Mine is close to 3.5" of lift over base height (not BL height) using Dirt Logic 2.5" external reservoir coil overs.

How much lift and what you use to get there depends on your intended use.

Depends what package. I’d run 37s with 4.7 gears found in a badlands or a 22 mansquatch if they actually make them.
Admittedly, this rig will not be used for rock crawling. Some off road, but nothing crazy. How much would you recommend I lift, starting at Stock Badlands height?
