I recently got tube doors on Amazon that look strikingly similar to the Ford tube doors, but are $430 cheaper ($820 vs $1250). I don’t have the ford ones, but here is my initial review of them after just a day:
Packaging:
I was immediately concerned if everything was included based on the packaging. There were some loose screws and packaging was a little destroyed. Could’ve been the mail service or the packaging, but the box is pretty heavy. The instructions (a direct copy of the Ford tube door instructions), only had 1 out of context page.
First impressions:
I could hear pieces inside of the tube doors rattling around a little when you tip them back and forth, the welds are a little…messy, and there are some scratches on the powder coat. The plastic on the handles was also a little misaligned but that was easy to fix. That being said they do feel solid and look good from afar.
Install:
Relying on fords instruction manual to help me out install was pretty straight forward. The hardest part was installing the hinges on the correct side. After installing it I thought I mixed them up because it was hard to align, so I swapped them only to find out that aligning them was just giving me a hard time. On the drivers side I had to use the shims and loosen/ retighten the hinges a few times to get the latch to align. The passengers side gave me no issues. There are some rubber “bumps” that contact the door that are non-adjustable unlike the ford ones. So a few aren’t fully contacting the door but they still feel fine.
Final Impressions:
On the car I love how they look. They feel sturdy and look very similar to the ford doors. I can’t directly compare to the quality of the Ford ones but you can definitely see some blemishes up close. If you have the Ford ones let me know how these look in comparison!
