Any storm chasers in here? I've done it, I don't want to do it anymore, but sometimes my job requires that I work in and around severe weather. Looking for advice on gopro mounts and such.

Nope, but I recently watched Twisters and again realized I wouldn't want to. :)
Not sure the Bronco top could handle the extreme weather or has the towing capacity for a "Dorothy" either.

Interior mounted, I'm assuming? If you want dash mounted, the accessory rails or plates from Archetype Racing, IAG, Tackform and others would be a good place to start. Other companies make grab handle mounts and similar if you want to get creative with your mounting angles.

Otherwise, an OEM waterproof case and a SeaSucker single or possibly triple suction cup mount would be my recommendation. I have a large single Manfrotto cup that works incredibly well for securing my hefty camera and sound recording equipment, but I wouldn't recommend leaving it in the weather. SeaSucker was always another highly rated name when I compared mounts a handful of years ago, and given the name, would likely better serve you in the wet.

Ive thought about this too. No way the Bronco could handle severe weather with the hardtop hanging on by latches and the softop just being a cloth material. I feel the tops would either fail or blow away entirely.

I’m a freelance journalist. I mostly cover the weather. And I usually rent a car. But occasionally someone says hey can you get to…

Agreed. Sooner or later hail will beat the crap out of anything. I'm more interested in camera rigs and wifi. Some chasers come up with very creative solutions.

Just remove the soft/hard top - They have washout interiors, right?? 🤪

I've done it. Friend was a meteorological scientist and had his spotter ID. Went out a couple times during enhanced risk. We ran a Verizon hot spot and had two laptops. One was running radar and the other I think he had for wind vectors. My job was just to drive. My BIL was running the GPS to get us around all the farm roads. Was a blast. One trip we got onto 4 tornados. One that ended up being an ef4. Chased it for over an hour through KS. The Bronco would be a great vehicle to do it in, but no way I want to risk damage in ours. It would do great bombing down rutted out farm roads though.

Doesn't this sound like a line from a Fast & Furious movie?
