After reading NUMEROUS threads about upgrading the audio, I would appreciate anyone who can confirm (or refute) the following in very simple terms. I am attempting to upgrade my B&O system in stages to defer costs. I’ve added SSV pods with Kicker speakers and think I will be going with Kicker 4” and 6.5” for the dash and kick panels. (I realize this is personal preference and may not be the “best” speaker but I’d like to maintain continuity, I’ve had good results with Kicker for years). My questions/assertions are as follows:
1. in order to add additional power to the speakers I will need a 4 channel amp/harness for the 5 front speakers and a separate 2 channel amp/harness for the rear pods…maybe there is a single amp/harness option?
2. to add a better sub I can replace the factory sub and add an amp/harness or add a separate sub in a tailgate box, Stealthbox, or new SSV box along with an amp to power it.
I believe that MoBridge has a complete kit but it’s much more than I’m prepared to spend at one time, realizing I may end up with a more expensive or complex system building a bit at a time.
3. the amp for the front speakers would be attached to the processor under the dash while the rear pods and sub amps would be attached to the processor located in the rear panel.
Finally, it’s been a long time since I have added any amps to a vehicle, would all 3, or any of the 3, require power/ground wires or is that part of a Plug and Play harness?
thank you all for the great write ups and plethora of information you provide!
