Short vacation, only 4 days. Checked the battery charge and it was down to 62% for this short time. Sometimes it may sit for 2 weeks or so. Is this much drain normal? I have a charger but it seems like a large drain for just a few days.

I recommend the 4 amp Battery Tender.
And if you buy it at Walmart, you get an extra year's warranty (4 years ILO 3). I use it on my Broncos.

Short answer to your question, yes. Either battery tender or pull a battery cable. Between Ford "pinging" them daily causing a draw, in addition to the normal draw and time it takes it to go into sleep mode, not getting a full charge when driven, your options are limited. Short tripping (less than a 30 minute drive) or extended periods of not driving, is extremely hard on these batteries.

If you DM me your VIN, I'll look at your VHR to see if anything else might be going on.

I have a 2024 Badlands with a 2.7. I have had a similar issue as you’re describing.

First time I brought it into the dealership they told me nothing was wrong but charge the battery.

The second time I brought it in they did a service and updated software. Indicated there was a TSP on this issue.

Not sure what they did, but I have not experienced the battery drain down since they did their service work.

when I look at the Ford app, all it says under the service is “other “as the service performed

Hope this helps you.

On a positive note, your battery state of charge is very good right now.

Not much here so it's pretty much the tender or pull a cable. We have an average of about 2 customers a week that are in the same situation as far as use is concerned. Unfortunately, the way Ford does their software and how the vehicle goes into sleep mode, there's literally no "fix" for this short of driving more or the charger. It's hard to explain to people, especially those who haven't had a new vehicle in the last 10 years why this is a problem now when it wasn't back then. Technology, isn't it great:rolleyes:

I'm having similar issues but connected a battery tender. Can you check my VIN, as I have not received any updates in a long while (maybe the battery)? I do see a pending update occasionally, but the next morning there is nothing showing it was updated. My vin:

Thanks.

Do you know what the SOC was before you put it into storage? Good odds that it wasn't as high as you may think to start with.

Yes, some drain is gonna happen - it checking for OTA updates is a good example. A lot of third party stuff can do this too - dash cams, improperly installed audio amps, things plugged into the Power Points, etc.

System is supposed to go into deep sleep after 10 or 14 days (can't remember which) of no user activity, to help preserve the battery and stop OTA updates and other things from just draining the battery totally dead.

As a side note - a lot of folks with older Rockslide Engineering steps in particular have had issues with abnormally high battery drain, they revised the control board in 2023 to address it. If this applies you can reach out for an updated control board I have heard.

Not all battery maintainers are created equal, I use one specifically for AGM batteries for the Bronco

Ctek MXS 5.0 is what I use. Covers every vehicle and battery type I currently have. Inexpensive and a variety of leads makes it easy. I have to put my Bronco on every few weeks as I have a fairly short trip to work and back so the battery never tops up during the week.

I keep mine on a Deltran Battery Tender 24/7....it's always ready to go and will lengthen your battery life. Buy an extra 6' cable and extend it out through the grill.

I see Ctek and Noco both a good deal and have good luck with both of them. There are other good brands out there for sure though. Noco is what I have in my garage, a 1A for small stuff or overnights, and a 10A for when I'm doing Forscan stuff or want something charged a bit faster.

None of those will jump start a dead battery - they are just there for maintenance/trickle charging. Even the small 1A will trickle charge the Bronco, and given enough time can top off the battery, but it takes about 30 minutes from shutting it off when the aux systems all actually shut off before it actually can put anything back into the battery.
