Hello all,

I just installed these mesh grille inserts on my Big Bend and really think that it completes the look of the vehicle. The material takes up quite a bit of frontal area, however, and I thought I might ask those more knowledgeable than myself here, will this significantly affect cooling in the summertime or engine performance in general?

By my estimate, the total frontal area added by these inserts subtracts about the equivalent of 1 to 1.5 of the 6 holes on the Big Bend grille.

Unlikely. Still plenty of air that can get passed. I’ve seen others install similar grilles with no issues.

I have the black ones without issues.
However…
I believe the blue ones like in your attach cause vehicles around you to overheat. šŸ˜Ž

I like your amber light that is on top of the bumper. Where can I get one?

I've had them on my OBX for probably two years now. Zero change in temps.

Great light bar with the amber DRLs. Many B6G'rs have this one. Super easy install.
(that Link is for the Capable bumper, but the site also has the one for the Standard bumper)

Excellent. Just the long-term review I was looking for. I appreciate your taking time to comment.

I’d been worried that, with so much frontal area, they would spoil the airflow through the engine bay. I watched my temps making the hill climb up I-70 from Denver to the Eisenhower Tunnel out here in Colorado today (a 5,000ft, 50 mile climb) and didn’t see a change, but it’s also a cool day (even if it was 45 degrees this afternoon).
