Perhaps learning from Hollywood, whose alliance/cooperation with Big Tech has been disastrous for them from a quality and financial perspective, manufacturers are realizing that Big Tech are masters of the 'Trojan Horse Business Plan'.
From a personal perspective I have to admit that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not the "game changers" I expect them to be. Yes, they are better at most things then Ford's inherent Sync functionality, but not that much better. Turns out the things that most annoy me about the software/tech driven car such as ASS, collision avoidance, buggy software/updates, 4WD controls that feel like they are still in Beta versions, no opt out for "Big Brother" data sharing, etc. are neither here nor there in the Apple/Android vs. Sync comparison.
Big Tech has just about ruined the internet, glad to see they are being slowed down in their effort to take over your car:
