Looking for anyone who has upgraded their brakes or has a suggestion on a good upgrade kit.

2.3 or 2.7?

The only brake kits I am aware of are from Alcon and Power Stop; both for the fronts and for the 2.3L only. Powerbrake has a kit but I'm not sure about fitment or which motor. The 2.7 has an electric assist whereas the 2.3 is the older vacuum assist. Theoretically any brake kit for the 2019+ Rangers should fit the 2.3L Broncos, but I haven't found any confirmation of that.

I've seen grumblings that Brembo is working on a kit.

2.7 Ive seen some Wilwood ones that say they should fit. Technically if you just replace the fronts then anything that fits the ranger/2.3 should fit the 2.7

Powerstop isn't an brake upgrade they're just rebuilt painted calipers and slotted rotors. Pads are what the biggest difference is.

Baer Performance makes a big brake kit for the Bronco.

I do not know of any one using it. I have used Baer for other vehicles, and thought they were a decent value option.

This! I love Power Stop but really the magic is in the brake pads and the slotted rotors. The pair work well together and the pads were really great on my previous Wrangler. I had a caliper get stuck once and I swapped to Wagner Carbon Ceramic pads while I sorted out the caliper problem and even just having swapped the rears to Wagner, I noticed a significant reduction in braking, esp coming off the highway on short off-ramps. Initial bite was a little less, but the brake fade was very noticable from the Power Stop. I will be going to Power Stop pads and probably rotors when the pads wear out on the Bronco.

The 2025 2.3 is electric assist but previous years weren't.

I'm at just over 65k - front pads look almost new. Rear pads are almost down to the squealer, so time to start shopping for rear brakes.

Recommendations? I never really had issues with the OEM brakes, so I guess the default is just Motorcraft pads, but if there's something I should be looking at, especially for similar money, I'm taking suggestions.

Odd how the Bronco is rear-brake heavy - most every other 4-disc vehicle I've had has been front-brake heavy.

My Maverick is the same way, at 60k, plenty of meat on the fronts, but rears are gonna get replaced in the spring. The rears also had less pad material to begin with, when compared to the front. Must be a Ford thing....

OP - Get some EBC Yellowstuff (or Green if Yellow be too aggressive for you) pads and leave the OEM rotors. Be prepared to clean heavy dust off the wheels on the regular.

Hard to upgrade from Fords excellent brakes 65K on rears is amazing. Mustang world is continuous disappointments except with $5K+.big brake upgrades. You could get the Alcan fronts. I'd stick with Ford. Most of the aftermarket is crap or not ideal match to rotors.

Just finished installing the PowerStop Z36 rear kit that has slotted rotors and the Extreme pads. 68k and some change on the odometer.

Install was nice and easy - the kit had everything needed. As far as stopping power: yeah, it’s noticeably better but honestly not sure how much of that is because I’m comparing it to a set of pads that had <1mm of pad left, or how much of it is because it’s actually a better kit.

Anyway - no complaints. No squeals or other noise either. Haven’t done the front - still plenty of pad left up there.

One of the factory clips was broken, but looked like it had enough metal left to keep the pad from dragging.
