Catastrophic tire failure at 50+ MPH on a desert road and I didn't flip my 100" wheelbase Disco. Sounded like a double barreled shotgun blast. I was lucky that day!

Yeah, it threw the back of my rig sideways by a couple feet, or that's what it felt like. Thank goodness not on the steering axle. Those are the tires the rig came with, probably abused by PO and dry rotted from storage. I've never tolerated an old tire on any vehicle of mine since then. I now replace around the 5-6 year mark regardless of treadwear.
