Bypass micron filter install?

Here's my oil analysis. I sold the Bronco and removed all the parts installed very easily.

- 15.5k miles oil and filter change 6 quarts Mobil1 5W-30 advanced full synthetic (lots of metal in the stock filter)
- 16k miles Frantz bypass frame mounted bottom side 1 quart of Mobil1 5W-30 advanced full synthetic added
- 16.2 miles Baxter oil filter adapter and FL500S filter installed
- 16.3 miles Frantz bypass filter moved from bottom side to top side with a loss/replacement of 2 quarts of Mobil1 5W-30 advanced full synthetic
- 16.5k Single K&N oil catch can installed
- 17.5k miles used oil analysis OILTEST2

Parts removed prior to selling Bronco and putting it back in factory condition.

Here's an oil analysis from a 20 year old Jeep I have with 200k miles and no bypass filter that has 3k mile oil change intervals.

This is for comparison on the particle differences since the Bronco and Jeep samples were both taken at 2k miles. Jeep holds 5 quarts and Bronco holds 7 quarts.

Listen, the story with the ruined $1,300 oil pan is just the end. After that, you really start shying away from any service center and switching to "toolless tools" so those goblins simply can't tear anything off.

For now, the return line through the Insane Diesel cap seems like the most sensible and safest option, even though that hose doesn't look as neat on top of the engine as I'd like.

Initially I was totally opposed to it so much so on my Powerstroke I replaced the oil pan and plumbed it in clean. The cap return bothered me. However, the setup on the Bronco follows and clamps to a factory hose and you'd never know it was there unless I told you. Its perfect in my view.

BTW if anyone wants the turnkey topside kit pictured above that I ran for 2k miles and cost me $1500 shoot me a reasonable offer plus shipping through messaging. I've got 3 new Frantz filters with it but you'll need to buy an $8 FL500S for the Baxter. It took me 15 minutes to remove it and its a perfect fit that should only take 15 minutes to install since I've got the kit all sorted.

If anyone is on the fence about these remember you can't reverse time, miles, or wear. So cleaner oil is always best and those turbo screens can plug costing far more time and money than this kit. Frantz filters are only $5.

I finally got my micron bypass filter installed. As you can see in the photos, I placed the filter behind the fuse box. It was the only place I could find because I want to install an air compressor on the the other side of the engine. I don't recommend to anyone to install a filter where I did. There is very little space to fit it. I ended up fabricating three different mounting brackets before I got it right to get the filter to fit.

I ran the oil supply line from the oil pressure sensor across the back of the engine following the electrical wire bundle on the firewall to make it look fairly inconspicuous. I used the insane diesel oil filler cap for the oil return. The return line runs along the top of the valve cover to keep it from standing out too much. I am happy with the results.

I had over 2,000 miles on the oil and it was just starting to darken a little. I elected to not change the oil to see if the 1 micron filter would clear it up. It did a nice job of doing that in two days of driving back and forth to work.

I used the lines that come with the Insane Diesel kit. They have a stainless wire braid captured with an external polymer braid. I won't need to use the stainless line my brother installs. They also supplied quality AN fittings that were pretty easy to install on the lines.

I covered the lines with corrugated split wire loom tubing to help them blend in and provide a little more protection as recommended by Insane Diesel.
