Convertible experience with a Bronco

Unfortunately Bronco soft top is not multi layer like Mustang, which is very comfortable. Both have hreat acoustics and comfortable even in extreme cold.

I was in a a crazy wind storm on highway and the sot top was so noisy. Also the flapping in some conditions is comical anything built after 1945.

I guess there's always a $300K Gwagon option LOL.

A soft top will never be as quiet or comfortable as a hard top. It lacks the stability, rigidity, hard materials, insulation, etc. It's up to each individual to decide what they tolerate as comfortable or acceptable

All factors for sure however, zero resonance or temp convection amplification from large hard surface is a soft top plus. Every hard top ive ever owned gets full sound deadening on sheet metal and absorber on head liner the moment its home - makes a massive difference.

I do find the very low soft top acousitc refectivity and flexible windows resuts in a superior sound system, to my ears any way. All these hard top SUVs sound horrible when turn up the volume, to my ears anyway, even the $100K plus ones.

I would have ordered a painted top though, if I ordered. Can find takemoff soft tops cheap.

My X5M audio sounds amazing. But the growl of the engine and custom exhaust sound so magnificent that I barely ever listen to music when I drive it.
We have owned a lot of nice SUVs over the years and I find it takes some serious tweaking to get the sound optimal for the driver position.

So when you’re driving in this set up, three sections removed, do you get any fluttering kind of sound? On my MY23 F150 Crew Cab, when I open the rear windows so the dog can stick her head out, I get this fluttering noise that requires me to open the drivers window about an inch.

Nope, none of that. Sometimes depending on wind the rear clamshell will move a little bit at speeds of 70mph or higher, but no noise.

I've driven a lot of convertibles, but the Bronco is the only one in my experience I can use Bluetooth to make phone calls with any portion of the roof removed while driving on the highway. They spent a lot of time working out the aero needed to keep turbulence out of the cab.

I built a top lift, can take off the hard top by myself. Also install the soft top by myself and after the second year, it is not entirely fun but not a huge effort except for removing the Ford/Tuffy rear enclosure for side panel access. Am 73...
The Ford/Bestop quality is good and easy to fold after taking off the side and rear panels--just wish someone would make a boot for it. Soft top is great for our sunny CO summers but appreciate the hardtop for the winters.

Actually, I disagree.
You clearly do not use your soft top a lot if you find taking the sides and back off anoverwhelming labor. It takes five minutes tops maybe less and you can throw them in the back. It takes a few more minutes if you get the case for your windows.

I agree! I have a soft top as well. Once you’ve done it a few times. It’s a quick process. Besides…nothing like being able to just flip that first section back in seconds at a red light!

Probably not the case since you test drove several vehicles, but I recall there was a forum member who somehow got a Bronco with 2 missing bolts that hold down the clamshell lip to the roll cage. Basically only the 8 lower body bolts were holding the clamshell to the vehicle. That could allow vibration and noise from wind hooking the top when the front panels are removed.

That makes sense and must have been the case.
