Anyone come up with a cover, cap, slip-over thingy for the open ends of the crash bars to prevent debris or water from getting in there and potentially rusting, etc?
You can probably find a furniture leg end cap at home depot. That’s where I’m gonna look - or Amazon.

capping the one end will just make is more likely to trap moisture inside it and rust it faster. If Ford ever decides to make me a Bronco, I will just leave it, if it rusts out in 7 years, I will just buy another set and bolt them on.

I found some caps that work well. The front fits right in, the rear requires a little bit of trimming because the bar is not perfectly square. Full video below but here are links to the products on Amazon:
Rear-most crash bar caps: https://amzn.to/31doDCX
Fore-most crash bar caps: https://amzn.to/3eEbBS3

those things don't tend to stay on ... thinking about welding a cap on them and seal 'em shut on the end

Yeah it’s weird that they’re open. Why?

Are they open on the back, too? Would be a moisture and rust trap if so.
The rear-most bar is definitely open on the other end, and also slopes down that direction so I really don't think trapped moisture is an issue.

The front-most bar is a litter harder to tell but I think it also opens up on the other side.

Welding + grinding + painting is a good option too. If you are doing hard core off road wheeling that is probably better.

So you'll need to cap both ends....

I don't see the need to make that thing completely water-right. It IS coated on the inside. How is any different that other components, like the frame members for example?
