LOL we are exactly the opposite. Sports cars are more enjoyable with a manual transmission. It won't be a track car, but I could certainly get it on track once or twice. But woking the gears, heel-toe, is just more fun. Now on an offroad vehicle, auto all the way. No clutch to worry about, let the transmission do its thing while I focus on the thousand-foot dropoff, or that boulder I'm about to hit.
LOL.. To each his own as some wise dude once said, but I was talking more about a track car, like Darkhorse or Porsche GT3RS. In a sports car like a Toyota FT86 or Miata, which aren't about fastest lap times, more about driving twice as many miles to get to your destination on roads with curves, manual all the way.

I would agree with you if the context is competing. If I were just racing for fun, I’ll take the slower stick shift

There is nothing like hitting the brakes hard, catching that perfect heel-toe downshift to 3rd, trailbraking with the tail just stepping out, and making that inside pass with the throttle on the floor. A paddle shift might be quicker, but nowhere near as rewarding. Yeah I'm old school, but I'll never be a professional, or even the fastest guy there, but I'll have a ton of fun.

FWIW in my opinion, the DH isn't a track car. It's just a GT turned up a couple notches, and will be a fantastic daily driver. Eventually. Some day.
