dog dish hub caps on steelies

I have a base model on order, and I plan to swap out tires (235/85R16 Cooper AT3) and likely add dog dish hubcaps to the stock steelies.

Forum member ronstar posted a link on retro-fitting hubcaps (I forgot to grab said link), and there are several threads on ih8mud as well; seems simple enough pending you can find a cap size that works.

A little searching shows older FOMOCO dog dish caps come in various sizes (7.5", 9.5" and 10.5"). I made cardboard templates and headed to the local dealer to see how they'd look on a base model Ranger steel wheel.

I'll try my hand at photoshop later to see how the Ford caps look.

It's gotta be the black steelies. That last picture looks okay though.

The problem with these particular steel wheels is the silver ones really show off the holes in the wheel. Which then takes away from the dog dish.

Just a plain chrome one looks best.

Ford police interceptors use special flanged lug nuts that the center caps attach to with little tabs.

I would think that’s the smartest way to approach dog dishes for the Bronco, rather than spring tabs on the wheel itself.

YES! 100%. Keeping an eye on this thread. They added a nice center cap to the BD steelies. I wonder how they are held on...
