Hey everyone!

I am interested in seeing if anyone has done something similar and has had any issues? Or did you ever get your Bronco on a dyno with this combination?

I currently have the FPT running 93 with the following mods.
-Injen Intake
-CVF Charge Pipes
-CVF Intercooler
-CVF catted Downpipe
-MBRP cat-back exhaust

As much as it has improved the feel and quickness of the Bronco I just want more 😅 with the current market it makes no sense to trade for a 2.7l so I'm having fun with what I currently have. It feels like it runs out of steam on the top end which I'm not sure if it's built into the tune or the turbo can't push enough air. I don't have plans for a turbo swap at the moment, but I do have access to E85.

The JB4 by itself seems to provide similar gains and I see it can definitely be used in conjunction but with some limitations. I'm just wondering if at this point will it be worth it? Would it allow for enough gains to feel it? What are your thoughts and experiences?

Let me know! Thanks 🤟

Unfortunately until custom tuning is figured out, you’re pretty much topped out with potential mods. Nothing else, and even some of the things you already have, will make a difference without it.

Yeah I'm just wondering if its worth adding the JB4 ontop of everything I have now. Or it'll be a waste of like $700.

I wouldn't recommend having a tune and also using a JB4. While it has been done (known as stacking) on some other platforms, you really need to know what you're doing and monitor different variables to make sure you're operating within safe parameters for fuel, ignition timing, and boost, for example. It is far safer to just have a tune OR use a JB4.

I've currently got a JB4 on my 2.7 and quite happy with it as I can alternate between different fuels (87, 91, 93, E30) and adjust the different maps on the fly. It is quick and easy enough to remove if needed, and I can sell it to recover some of my costs later on. I realize a full performance tune will yield better results and also adjust other parameters, but the JB4 provided me with about 45 hp that I felt was lacking. I picked up about 4.5 mph in the quarter mile, and dropped about 3/10 off my ET according to my DRAGY results.

They say that its o.k. to use both. They told me to send a log if I get it without running a map on the jb4 so they can see what going on first. Then they would give guidance on what maps and things I can use with my current mods, etc. So idk. Still thinking about it.

Good to hear. Yeah, if you'll be able to have Burger review your logs and then either give you guidance for doing a custom map or sticking with one of their standard maps, then I'd feel more comfortable with it.

Have you considered just getting a custom tune from ZFG? That may be the best way to take advantage of your current modifications. They apparently have had good results as has been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

I have the 2.3l so they don't offer custom tuning yet. You have to use a completely different ECU with the 2.7l to allow for a custom tune. 🥴

But my hope would be that either my mods I would be able to run a slightly higher setting with the JB4 to make it worth it considering I already have a FPT. You know, if its if I can only squeeze out like 15hp with it then I'd rather pass haha.

Feel with how things are looking the next few years, we’ll have custom tunes sooner rather than later
