How many First Editions were ordered? Will Ford open orders to fulfill 7,000?

I saw where someone posted that only 4,000ish FEs were ordered. Also read that Ford may open up orders on FEs to fulfill the 7,000. Anyone have more info relating to this?

The only thing I ever read about it was an unnamed quote in an article. Someone at Ford told a Journalist that if someone backs out of the first edition they will not build it. With the constraints of the hard tops I can’t see how they can allow someone to enter the game now and have a FE when people have been waiting a year. A dealer was on here and they created a pole that asked if you could upgrade to a first edition would you. He said at offrodeo their dealership won it as a prize and they get to bump a current reservation holder into a FE.
