Icon upper control arms question

Getting ready to install Icons UCA's and I noticed that there is a plastic spacer between the arm bushings. So, not really sure what the point of them. If for some reason they get positioned in the center, they will be blocking the grease port. Icons installations instructions are terrible and don't say a word about them.
So my question is, do I need them?
