Has anyone ever compared 2 tires of exactly the same specs with exception that one is LRC and the other is LRE? How does the contact patch compare when aired down to the same psi, lets say 15psi?

The LRE (Load Range E) is going to have a smaller contact patch than LRC, The specific difference is really going to depend on the tire, as the construction varies quite a bit from brand to brand and even model to model within a brand. Personally, I focus a lot more on the sidewall toughness, and cut resistance, so I tend to end up with LRD or LRE tires

So for a starter set of trail tires with a good amount of sidewall protection, I should go with the E and call it a day?

What kind of Trails do you plan on doing?

If you're going to be doing mostly just trails though the woods without a lot of rocks or beach/sand wheeling you're probably fine with a load range C and it will be a lot more comfortable on road, Load Range E is typically pretty stiff.

If you plan on Rock Crawling and dealing with sharp rocks, Then you should seriously consider a load range E, where the tougher sidewall is a big deal.

I plan on doing the very easy trails for a while just to feel it out. I just want a bit of puncture protection, so I think I will go the middle ground and get the LR-C. Thanks for the input.
