My dealer initially was going to add on the BS "VIN etching" on all body panels for a "value" of $800. Luckily they dropped that quickly and with no argument upon delivery. My Insurance does not recognize that as "active theft deterrent" and provides no discount for it.

That's a gps tracker in case you get behind on payments. You'd be surprised how many dealers in Florida do this also it doesn't matter if you got a high interest rate or low. They will add it. So no offense to anyone. Surprised though . They usually hide it better

Not really, how often do people look behind the glovebox, under the steering column or pop the hood and fuse boxes? 90%* of driver's don't

*my guesstimation based off how many customers had no idea that air filters need to be changed, or think the slightest vibration of the door -with it open- is a concern

Did you purchase the Perimeter Plus security system? That’s what it looks like to me and I ordered it for my Bronco…whenever if finally ships.

I had the permitter plus added after the fact and it does not go there. All vehicles are set up for it but you ave to buy the module at around $200 =/-$15. For it to be installed, supposed to remove the glove box and climate control panel and then tie it in.

It would need both. GPS to find its location and a cell signal to tell you about it. The mysterious black box would need both as well.
