I used a GoPro to grab some screenshots today. A few observations.
(1) Contrary to what I thought I saw yesterday, there is some boost in M mode 1st gear. It is roughly the same as in D mode 1st gear.
(2) Sport mode seems to unlock quite a bit more boost in 1st gear.
(3) Peak boost in Normal mode occurs around 3400RPM then begins decreasing until the second gear shift.
(4) Peak boost in Sport mode occurs around 4500RPM at which point it shifts into second gear.
Screenshot (above) with the transmission in D mode. I tapped the up shift button so that the "1" indicator would appear on the RPM gauge. The peak boost was captured at 5.8psi at 3400RPM.
Next screenshot (above) is with the transmission in M mode. As with D mode, the peak boost was captured at 7.1psi at 3400RPM.
Final screenshot (above) is with G.O.A.T. mode set to Sport. Here the boost climbed to 12.9psi at 4500RPM before shifting to second gear.
Initially when looking at the video, I thought the shift points in Sport mode were higher which allowed for more boost to build. They are slightly higher, but that does not explain the boost difference.
Norm Mode: Peak boost 5.8psi @ 3400RPM and 3.1psi @ 4200RPM when it shifts to 2nd gear.
Sport Mode: Peak boost 12.9psi @ 4500RPM when it shifts to 2nd gear.
I will repeat the tests tomorrow to see if anything changes. I may also try a second gear start to see if full boost is unlocked there.
UPDATE:
Quite a bit more testing today and I'm seeing a bit of variability in boost in 1st gear. Some runs it is low in the 6-8psi range and others I hit 16psi. However even the normal D mode is giving boost from a standing start (sometimes a lot of it). I am in California on 91 octane so that may have a lot to do with it.
