Powerbraking

So I tried to powerbrake the other day, showing the wife how to do it. Was in 2WD and the max RPM I could get was 1700. Is there a secret on powerbraking? I did have to Powerbrake in Moab, on one obstacle but was too busy looking at the trail ledge vs my RPMs.

What RPM would you like it to go to? There’s really no need to go any higher. At some point you’re just going to over power the brakes and spin the tires. Or worse, if the brakes hold it.. overheat and damage the torque converter.

That is just it. It never got to the point of overpowering the brakes. 2500 would be a good zone, when needed, IMO.

Make sure the traction control is turned off, you can't do a burnout with it on.

I mean if you’re just looking for it to over power the brakes and do a burnout, traction control and advance trac we’re probably preventing wheel spin.

As far as power braking though, the transmission isn’t designed to or going to let you power brake it over ~1700. Going any higher than that or holding it around there for an extended amount of time will eventually cause damage to the converter clutch.
