Serious question, now that we have Android Auto/Apple Car, wireless and wired. Why do people still mount phones on the dash?

I get the cameras and hand held radios, and other stuffs. But I no longer see a reason for the phone up there.

I use mine in the event Android auto stops working, to control an externally mounted go pro, and to check apps when stopped that are not available on AA, like to browse something.

I do however agree that I use the phone much less with AA.

I used to use mine for showing gauges in Torque. Now that I have an iDash, it's no longer necessary.

It can sometimes be handing having a secondary mapping app, such as Gaia, for showing land ownership and setting waypoints, etc. while exploring new areas.

It's also just become habit to throw my phone up on the charger in my other non-AA vehicles. Seems weird not to do it!
