QA Hold for 3 months

So, ordered Raptor in Nov 24, Ford says it went into production beginning of May. We are a week away of it being on a 3 month QA hold.. Talked to the dealer, they can get no further information, it is just sitting at the factory waiting on something.

At this point, should I consider it a lemon? There are other 25 Raptor's on the lot now at a dealer near me with the exact specs / color I ordered...

I'm thinking about just cancelling the order, and buying it locally at this point. A 3 month QA hold just does not shout confidence in the vehicle...

Does anyone know what would cause a vehicle to be on a 3 month QA hold?

Same thing happened to me, blend date was 7-21-2023 and I picked it up at the dealership 10-13-2023. Never had any problems with the rig. You'll be fine.

I never understood ordering a car. You can always find the exact same car and most likely for less.

I’ve always driven 50-100 miles to get a car at the best price. For 2 special cars I’ve flown across the country to save -$5000

Depends on the make and model. I tend to agree on Broncos (and quite frankly, anything Ford), but if you are in lower volume luxury makes ordering sometimes makes a lot of sense or is pretty much a necessity if you want any sort of unique option combinations or colors.

Custom ordered my solar orange 2012 Audi TT-S and my namib orange 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport P290 HSE. On my 2016 VW Golf R I needed a dealer to trade for an allocation of a specific vehicle that was just starting manufacture in Germany.

So yes, high volume mainstream vehicles (like 50k a year or more sold), getting one off a lot that matches up closely with what you want even if needing a fly and drive almost always wins financially. Anything sub 10k volume and/or scarce though may require a bit more patience (unless you are willing to compromise on some items).

I have always saved a lot of money when I have ordered a vehicle. When you aren't paying for options you don't need/want and the dealer has close to zero carrying costs, there is a lot to save, and you get EXACTLY what you want within the parameters available. Additionally you know it has as close to zero miles as possible with no one test driving it and slamming the go fast and stop peddles before you get a chance. Plus, the window stickers usually have "Built especially for Bronco Aloha" at the top. Worthless but fun little bonus. Gotten this with Jeeps, Volvos(while they were still a Ford company), and Audis.
